Strato Blue 3s 5-door
While I consider myself a car buff, my new 3 is my first car, so it will be my first hands on work. I'm not very familiar with specific numbers and prices.
What would you all say is the best performance for your buck for a first upgrade? Anything in the $200 price range or so. And not just performance as in more HP, anything.
Thanks, I would think many new and current members would be interested in one or two cost efficient modifications.

I think that an intake would be a great place to start. You can get an Injen or AEM for around $200. Lowering Springs if you want to do suspension would cost around $200 depending on which company you go with it would be more or less. That's about all I can think of for around that price range. Let me know if you have any other questions.

-Nology Coil on Plug Conversion Kit
-TWM Shortshifter (should be significantly less than $200)
-Hyper Grounding System
-Erebuni Eyelids
-Window Tint

Just to name some that I've done for that price range.....

i'd go with intake first. it will be the best power for your buck. while it might not actually produce that much power on a dyno, its enough that you will notice the difference.

best bang for your buck=lightened fly wheel... though you looking at 500 + install unless you do it yourself, but for your price range i would suggest intake i guess for horse pwr, there aren't to many cheap power mods for these cars.. cat back is around 5 bills as well and we are still waiting on comp tuning options wich also pack quite the bang for your buck...

Would someone mind telling me what in the world a Hyper Grounding System does exactly?

I just got done looking it up with a google search and manufacturers claim up to 5hp and better responce and a bunch of other stuff but I want to hear in someones words whos NOT trying to sell me one what it does and if its worth getting? What am I goign to get out of it if I buy it? And is this something that is easy to install alone? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Until just reading this thread. I have never heard of it. BTW I am a mod noob as well.

This is 1 link I got my reading material from heh /shrug. IS it a bunch of hot air?

it ummm 5hp... thats a bit crazy.. it just increases throttle response and improves idling. you are just getting a better electrical ground in your engine bay. i wouldn't recomend doing this unless you plan on doing a lot of perf mods or a lot of electrical work b/c it really isn't noticable from what i have read... i am doing one myself b/c i have a lot of stereo equipment going in....

Im not going to get carried away with the mods. Really only plan on getting a short ram air intake under the hood. Want CAI but im worried that the michigan weather is going to mess somethign up with that intake outside my car. And I plan to put in a new exaust system, thats about it.
I am running 3 audiobahn amps in my car though so maybe I should look into this heh.
thanks tsunami.

I ran a CAI all this past winter and had no problems whatsoever.

I live in Nebraska and had my Injen CAI on for the last 5 months or so and no problems. I've also driven through some of the worst rain anyone probably has in a sever thunderstorm coming home one afternoon, and haven't had any problems with it. It was raining so hard everyone was pulling off the interstate onto the shoulder because no one could see where they were going. It was some crazy stuff. Anyways, I think a CAI is well enough protected in the fender well that you won't have to worry about Hydrolocking your engine, especially if you can drive through what I did and not have any trouble.

umnitza (i think that is spelled right) makes a short ram intake. i still suggest some form of intake as your first mod.
