Noise is scaring me.

Hey guys, my 08 MS3 is scaring me.

Sometimes when I have the wheel turned, and am going along at 3-10 mph or so the car makes a loud squeak, creak noise. It almost sounds like brakes rubbing, but it's a very deep sound, not a high pitched brake squeal that is often heard. Plus it seems to happen when I'm not on the brakes at all. I think it may potentially be the LSD...has anyone else noticed a sound like this? Any fixes, or is this just normal behavior for these cars?

I've heard this on my 07 I have only heard it a few times esp. when new. I have not heard it for a long time. Usually when I was trying to pull into my parking lot and had the wheel turned real far to left / right and seemed to hear it when I went over a bump in the road slowly.

EDIT mine was in the summer. I know there is the suspension squeek that is a huroundous sound sub-freezing temps... this one is different not sure if this is what the OP is hearing I'll sit back and listen to what the experts might suggest....

Anyway, I live in Florida so the cold couldn't have anything to do with it. I'll just assume this noise is normal out of these cars, as well as all the other little noises. Hopefully something will break and I can go to the dealer and freak out. =)

Just take it in anyway and have them check it out...that's what the warranty is for.

You could have a stone stuck between the brake rotor and that metal cover on the back side (I don't know what it's called) or that cover could be bent and rubs against the rotor.

Is it a brake noise or a power steering noise? My MS6 had a bad power steering pump the day I drove it out of the dealership. I had a rental mazda6 for the first week I owned my speed6... not fun.

Mine makes a deep groan at low speeds when turning. Not very often, but it does wake you up when you hear it.

yup that's the noise! i took mine to the dealer many months ago and of course "we could not replicate the noise" seems the noise has subsided.

Ugh. I just heard this noise today when accelerating in 2nd gear and turning at around 15-20mph. It was a deep moaning sound. Scared the hell out of me! (boom04)

Our cars are haunted. I used to get a strange rattle when turning over bumpy roads at low speeds. And low pinch moans when I was turning my wheel at low speeds. Turns out my springs were not seated correctly on the strut perch.

I had the same experience but I haven't heard that noise for a long time.
I believe that it's nothing to worry about.
