no vroom vroom

Well, I put the motor in. Bolted everything on. connected all the connectors. but no vroom vroom. If I pull a plug wire off, put a plug on it and ground it to the valve cover, I get a good spark. There is fuel at the rail. But when I pulled the plugs out of the motor, they were dry. looks like the injectors aren't injecting. They are getting 12v from the ECU, but I can't tell if the ECU is grounding them.

Any ideas?

There's no fire at all, correct? Are you using new plugs? If so, has their color changed at all?

You could do it the messy way and pull the rail and injectors to see if they fire while cranking.

Alternatively, while having a friend crank the car, hold a long screwdriver to each injector and place your ear to the end of the screwdriver and listen for an obvious repetative click. I've used the method many times successfully on a 'running' engine to diagnose failed injectors; so you may have some success with that while the engine is cranking.

Additionally, a quick continuity test will aid in the diagnosing wiring. IIRC, the injectors are constantly grounded while the ECU supplies 12v to 1&4 and 2&3 alternatively. I'd have to look at the FSM to be totally sure. Confirm that all of the wires with the little ring terminals are connected at the rear of the engine on the intake side. It's not hard to miss one when reinstalling an engine.

Have you confirmed your timing also?

other way around.. It was the injectors. Sitting around for x-months made them all sticky. I put my old injectors in, and it fired right up!

Unfourtunitly, it only ran for about 2 minutes... I heard a thump from the front, and it died and wouldn't start. Thought the belt broke, but it skipped a few teeth. well, a lot of teeth. Took the front cover off last night, the intake cam is off by about 80* and the exhaust off by about 45* Looks like while sitting, the timing belt idler, and tensioner pullys got rust on them, and made the timing belt f* up...

Well, some progress is better than no progress ;) .

I see new idlers come up on ebay from time to time for about $20 or so. I'm sure a dealer would be willing to charge 4 times that.
