No power at all from a stop

Lately when I am at a stop sign or light, it seems like my car has about 5hp until i get it to at least 2k rpms. I don't remember my car doing this when I first got it, and it seems to be getting worse.

I know I could just rev it more before engaging the clutch, but I like to baby the clutch when I am driving casually.

This is the first turbo car I have owned, but I do remember my parents having a saab turbo that with an automatic tranny that had kinda the same problem. It is actually scary sometimes crossing or turning onto a street where crosstaffic does not stop. You expect the car to go, but it just limps along and then finally kicks in AFTER limping across the whole intersection, barely avoiding disaster.(nervous)

The only thing I can think of is maybe this is heatsoak since it has been getting hotter lately, but I don't know a whole lot about how heatsoak affects a turboed car. Is this just a regular thing with our cars, or is there something wrong with mine?

Any recommendations on how to alleviate this problem?

yeah, stock msp. except Kartboy shifter bushings and turbo timer, but I don't think they are the source of the problem here.(thumb)

Hmm, I have been using the AC constantly lately, so I'll have to try it without AC. Does it really sapp all that much power?

for me it does. I can't stand driving the car with it on. I even leave it off after I wash the car with the windows up on a hot day

Easy for you to say, isn't the weather always perfect in CA? (yes) Maybe I've been misled, but I think Texas summers are way worse. I can't stand driving the car with it off.(notcool) Anyways, not trying to rag on you here, but I don't understand how washing the car has anything to do with it either.(huh)

prob not as hot as texas, but it will get into the 90's in the bay area. Butt thats like your spring time weather huh? If your as anal is me you normally dont roll your windows down(while your driving) after you wash the car for a few hours so the half dry water doesn't streak on your windows when you go to roll them back up

happens to me too, i think my problem is different, i think i have a vaccum leak or i think the tube i used for my boost gauge is too small that all the vaccum is just leaking out. I would say its the heat soak, for the first 30 min of driving my car feels GREAT but after that in this hot ass weather its starts to lagg, stumble and hesitate. Tell the dealer maybe you have a leak?

AC will take off a lot of power, especially on a hot day.
and i can never seem to start from full stop without bogging down.

i almost never use AC though...

roll down all ur windows and drive fast... that way u dont have to use the AC

I also rev to 2k to start during normal driving.

Ummm, why dont you let out the clutch at 1k or lower? I would imagine your clutch would get the crap beaten out of it doing that all the time. You should be able to start off without even revving it up..., maybe I am just misinterpereting sp? what you said. (hand)

i know what he means i have the same problem. Like its almost imposiple to put in first give it a lil gas (to about 1k) and then let off the clutch, we gatta rev it to like 2k then let off the clutch just for it to get going for daily driving.

try driving it with a 8lb. flywheel.....2k IS taking it easy on the clutch lol.

didnt you know? msps suck and you should sell it......most msp owners seem to think so anyway
