No Matter What You Do- You Can't Keep The Car Perfect For Long.....!!!!!

i am surprised credit card did so much damage, is it just in the clear coat. try some rubbing compounds: extra extra extra extra extra extra :D fine sading paper, clay bar, or just a cleaner

Wait a second....

How is the dent on the PASSENGER side of the car? Where you in a fire lane AND on the wrong side of the road? No wonder they gave you a ticket. I can't see how you would be at fault, but I can understand the ticket.

That fricking sucks ass that some b**** hit you trying to be a cool guy...I give you props for not kicking his ass though.. I would've lost it and probably got arrested for beating him down, lol..
I think a big question is, who do you have insurance with, and who do they have?
Anyway, I hope you take him to the cleaners...

Best of luck

mtnbiker26, yeah I thought the same thing beings I WAS, indeed, in the car with it running. I even addressed that with the cop- he explained, and I quote, "Yeah I know it sucks but the ordinance states that even if your in the car with it running it's considered 'parking'"

YellowMP5, I dunno, the only way damage cost would be split would be thru the decision of a court. In this case the only person going to court is the kid for his reckless driving ticket. In my case I think it'll be a battle between our insurance companies. Though I don't know if that's a good thing or not!

andy_guerriero, yeah man the first damage hurts the worst. And unfortunately in my case the "first" was something huge...probably in the ball park of $1500. I don't know what's worse- doing the damage yourself, or having some other schlub do it!

chuyler1, Oh trust me I thought about all those points. There is just too much going in my favor when it comes to this "case". I'm not sure the exact age of the kid, but let me tell ya....if you saw him you wouldn't even think he was old enough to drive. And I glanced at his driver's licence- he has a pic looking to the side and not forward (meaning he was most definitly under 21). My gf caught a glimpse of the insurance card and it had the mothers name on it- but I have little doubt it wasn't the kids car. It was in Marlton, NJ and it's notoriously a rich area- I'm suprised he wasn't driving a bimmer!
About the aspect of it being a fire truck or, god forbid, a pedestrian- I've already thought of that. To tell you the truth...if it HAD been a pedestrian...god help him. He'd surely be in the hospital. Heck even if I was driving by he would have nailed me!

REMillers, I know what you mean man- totally. When things are handed to you, you have less appreciation for them and it shows in the care-free attitude young kids have when driving mommy/daddy bought sports cars. And kids in general, especially teen males are just idiots the way they drive. I should know, about 8 years ago I was the same way. I used to drive my old 85 Prelude like it was the Nascar Winston cup. Experienced driving only comes through age/maturity, and...well, experience. I've been so conservative and carefull with this car- now instead of me damaging it thru recklessness I have to avoid stupid kids damaging it thru THEIR recklessness!

JunkPunch, about the ticket- I totally agree as well...as I took the ticket graciously...as I was obviously in the wrong where my car was stopped. However my predicerment comes in the form of how the insurance companies are going to view it. I can almost bet his insurance company is going to try and say I am at fault too because of the location of my car. Though, I don't agree, and it's been the general concensus that it was totally on the kid beings I wasn't even moving at the time of the accident...and you should always have control of your vehicle at all times---- reversing quickly, in a showy style, without looking back is far from control of the vehicle. I guarantee if I wasn't there he was about to do the quick reverse into the peel out into 1st crap that stupid teenagers do with sports cars.

ALLMAN, yeah it's from KOTC (king of the cage) in the match where Brennan ko'd Mckee. Oh and yeah, I'm with you on the joint lock thing. Prior to Jiu Jitsu I studied Wing Chun/ Chin Na. In retrospect most of my training in that art was a waste of time, however some of the joint locks in Chin Na have become quite usefull in the submission wrestling aspect of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Honestly for every choke, armbar, or kimura lock I can count about 5-6 direct wrist lock submissions. The problem is alot of guys try to break your posture in the top guard position by grabbing your lapels and pulling you down close to them. Lucky for me most Chin Na applications are applied from the simple collar grab. lol Most are startled when they tap to a "wrist" lock of all things- and some are aggravated saying it's illegal, lol...that only larger joint locks are allowed (knees, elbows, shoulders). However regarding the legality of it, via Sport Jiu Jitsu rules only the only small joint locks ommited are finger and toe locks (excluding toe holds....which, despite their name, actually put pressure on the tendons and ligaments of the ankle)

LinuxRacr, Standing arts are definitly more efficient at self defense...especially in the event of multible attackers. Who want's to shoot or ankle pick a single guy when your fighting 4?! On the flip side (no pun intended) 1on1 hybrid arts like BJJ and Submission Wrestling are superior due to their versitility....aaand who's honestly gonna try and fight 4 opponents at once anyway. Unfortunatly it's not like the movies where the attackers systematically take turns at attacking. 4 vs 1, 99.99999% of the time spells doom.

LOL Laser..

I use to drive the same exact way, only difference was I took the time to fully learn the car. Unlike this kid I didnt go out and attempt to corner hard in it the first time, or even the 50th time. Instead steady exposed and found the cars strengths and weakness (btw my first car was a Saturn Wagon). Plus my dad took the time even before I got me learners permit to teach me driving. Plus above all how to control a spin!! Something that came in handy more than a few times. It also helped we had really nice cops who would let you sit in a parking lot, spinning all day long.

One reason I do not like to street race anymore, the drivers these days knew or cared little about safety or what they could do. NOT what their cars could do, but what they could do. A mistake many make.... You must first learn to control yourself and not expect the car to control you.

btw after work I went out and give my car a big ole hug, that it wasnt hit. :(

The very worst thing that could happen to you is that it turns out you both have the same insurance company - I've seen this happen a couple times before, with State Farm specifcally.

The "two" insurance agencies don't "fight" each other - They just make a case for "mutual fault" and the neither insurance policy pays anybody anything - Other times, they split it down the middle, and jack up both of the insured's rates.

Don

Yeah, small joint locks are very effective, I only know of a few...I don't train/learn to establish rules inside a ring, rather to survive in real world. Although I've fought within these circumstances before, for someone to call you out as being illegal...well, I feel much more differently. I think you difinetly have an edge if your skilled in small joint locks, whether in the mount or guard position......Peace!

Don, ya know what...I actually thought of that. Lord that would stink. I tried to catch a glimpse of his insurance card when the officer had it in his hand and all I noticed other than him actually being a resident of the town and it being under his mother's name was a logo which was cut off from my view. All I could see was 2 "A's" I dunno if triple A does insurance- does it. If not it's a good chance we MIGHT have the same insurance because I have USAA! Oh jeez!.......
Either way I'm gonna fight it tooth and nail.

Oh on a lighter note *sarcastic* I found out today the accident did damage to my custom audio install. I don't know how many of you have seen it. I put 4k into a custom false floor with neon lights and plexi over the amp rack. Well when I popped the trunk today I noticed the plexi wasn't lined up correctly. I pushed on it to the side and it slid! Somehow the impact from the side unmounted the plexi from my amp-rack under the false floor. UGH! Another problem to deal with.. :(

ALLMAN, Yeah me and my friend (my training partner) pretty much go for anything for submission short of striking and eye gouging. I've used some pretty unorthadox techniques while in akward positions while scrabling on the ground. Sometimes you get lucky and it works and you get a tap. About training in general- it's sorta hard to REALLY train for the real world. Unless, of course you and whoever your training with is a glutton for punishment. I just don't know how you could keep up a training regimine while including striking, kicking, kneeing and my favorite...elbowing. Submission wrestling is a world different when the guy is cracking you in the face while your trying to sink a lock.
Anyway you train right (weight lifting that is). It's ashame you live so far I need someone 'heavier' and stronger to train with. Unfortunatly the guy I do most of my sparring with is 5'11" 170. I'm 5'11" 265....so there's obviously a huge weight advantage. I can almost get a Matt Hughes'esc type take down everytime. If I'm getting tired on ground I fall back on using my weight to my advantage and wear him out...not to mention if I grab a limb I can almost force it into a lock against his will, without the use of silky smooth technique and finess. lol
The one advantage to training with a smaller guy is his agility and stamina. He's very quick and doesn't tire easily...and can sometimes be wirey and hard to submit. I think it's good to train with people of all sizes. I'm looking for the opportunity to train with someone in the 220-280lb range- that way my strenght and weight wont factor in as a huge advantage for me....causing me to use more technique.

Oh man, this is horrible?

Tell me the kid, chances are I substituted one of his high school classes...Plus, im cool with the kids in my neighborhood and if you ever want someone to do some playgroung bullying...just let me know.

BTW, what hoagie place were you at? Gaetanoes? Lee's Hoagie Shack? Don't know why that even matters, just curious. Man, if I would've driven by at that particular time and seen that....I would've definitely pulled over and said everything you wanted to say to the parents for ya....

Keep your eye out for me!

Craig, it was right in front of Lee's. So maybe you can understand the geography and the actual distance he had to travel backwards to hit me. I don't know his name....yet. But I'll be picking up the police report to get the insurance info, etc...tomorrow. I can tell you this though- it's a black RSX-S with damage to the rear passanger side of his bumper.

Man, I am always at that Gamestop thats right next door!

Were you parked facing the wrong way of how traffic should go?

Whats done is done, and theres nothing anyone can do about it (from Goodfellas, when Jimmy Conway (DeNiro) finds out Tommy (Pesci) got wacked instead of getting made).

Anyway, when we gotta do something like that. I drop her off, and I pull away to somewhere not near anyone...When I see her come out the door, then I pull up up and away...

I know exactly where you were, and how that happend, and that's bullcrap. That parking lot ALWAYS scares me for that reason. The way those cars park (like him) I always think they will hit someone or a car driving by...

Yeah it stinks man, let me tell ya. The car isn't even a full 3 months old yet!
See we called the order in ahead of time that way I wouldn't be there long- maybe 45 seconds...just enough time for her to pay and leave. Apparently it wasn't quick enough!
Anyway I talked to a friend of mine- he said the same thing happened to his mother. However in her case SHE was the one that hit someone sitting in the parking lane. She got a lawyer and tried to work the "she shouldn't have been parked there" bit to it's fullest and still was found at full fault for the accident...beings she was the one that hit the other. And the other car involved wasn't moving. That gives me hope everything will roll over smoothly. However, I'm still worried how they are going to fix the rear quarter panel. I can't find where it ends...it runs right up into the roof. So if they don't replace the panel how the heck are they going to reshaped that fender. The huge dend even obscures the flair around the fender....I don't think any amount of pulling, tapping, and sanding will make it perfect. And in this case I will accept nothing less. I have a right too- it was perfect BEFORE the jackass hit me! ya know......

Its unfortunate that there are bad drivers out there...

Luckily, two summers ago my girlfriend and I decided to take my Grand Marquis to the mall one day instead of her brand new Corolla...call it luck. We were looking for a bunny cage and I didn't think it would fit in her car.

as I was idling through the parking lot of Petco, 5mph tops in my huge white marquis, I see a girl walk out of the store get into her Chevy Corsica and as I am driving by she puts it in reverse and backs out of the parking spot right into me...RIGHT INTO ME. Her car moved a max of 3 feet before she hit me square between the passenger side doors. Thats like hitting a barge in a dingy! No one was hurt but she did a number on the side of my car...I started laughing...how could someone be so stupid as to not look back before driving backwards.

I know that Laser Blue is noticable, but the sheer size of my car proves that people don't think and drive at the same time. Turned out she was a Cornell student (I was going to Ithaca at the time).

Her insurance company deemed my car 'a total loss' and I got book value for it....so I drove it with the dent up until last week when I got my new P5.

Damn bro, 5'-11", 265.....that's large indeed..I'm 5'-11" 225, been bodybuilding for 15 years...wrestling for Hmmmm around 12 years and been grappling/ submission for around 8 years. Strikes are something I need to improve upon, but prefer to just grab a joint. More times than none a hand will break before a skull will....LOL!!!!I had a severe lower back injury(surgery required) about 1 year ago, that has stopped my grappling as well as I had a baby girl.....so yeah, I do miss it very much..and I'm getting left behind in the ever growing hybrid world. What I guess I meant by real world, is if you happen to have to fight on an asphalt pavement....my method of attack isn't going to be to shoot on your legs and risk damged to me....or a close quarter fight with no room to go to the ground...sometimes you can get into a frame of mind of self defense with given parameters such as a nice soft mat to work on....so many times I just trained on a hard gym floor to switch up. Yeah, striking is never a conition I train with....but do need to imporove on...but as with anything..no time. Hey, I'm still sorry about your car. I know I've taken this into another place..but I've been meaning to say something to you. I truely hope all works out...Peace!

Actually, you WANT the quarter panel repaired and not replaced as it's nearly impossible to put on a full panel and do a decent job because of all the inner connections the panel has to the rest of the car - Unlike a front fender, the rear quarters are pretty structural.

Looking at your pics, your's isn't hurt that badly, and any quality body shop won't have too much trouble doing a first class job on a repair to it - I'd be surprised if it ran over $1500, though your LB metallic will cost a little more to properly match.

Hopefully he'll be found fully at fault - You have many key things going for you. You were stopped. He was backling up and turning, which 99% of the time means he would be found at fault.

Good luck with your claim - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

Don

Thanks everyone. I think I'll be getting the accident report tonight- and then I'll see how the officer worded it. I'll also be able to get the kid's insurance info and I can start "working" on getting this resolved!

Yo Man,

What ever happend with the police report?

Hey, I was at the Gamestop today, the one right where the scene of the crime took place. We were talking about the accident, and how you posted on this message board, we were talking, yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, the store was funny, the manager said that you were pretty deisel and that he was afraid you might kill the kid. Both the store manager and the kid that asked if you needed to use a phone both said that if you needed their names for anything, witness, whatever....To let them know, they said they saw everything and would testify about how the kid went straight back into your car. The store manager said the second you pulled up you caught his eye with the bright blue. Apparantly shortly after you caught his eye is when, WHAMMO!

I just thought I would relay that message to ya...

Hey Craig! Yeah got the report- you have got to hear his "accident description" and I quote, "There was a blue car parked in the fire zone in the front of Lee's Hoagie's. I was leaving my parking space and the car was in my way while backing out. I did not see him because of where he was parked in the fire zone." end quote. Now, is it me, or does the first two sentences contradict the last sentence?! lol What a dweeb. Oh and the best part under "work #" nothing was listed- so that solidify's my suspiscion that he's a babied rich kid that doesn't work (probably student) who's mommy and daddy bought the car! My gf even looked up his address on mapquest and he lives right dab next to the Indian Links country club/golf course in a neighborhood with houses that range from 300-400k. UGH
Anyway YEAH I remember the one guy comming out of the GameStop offering to let me use his phone. However I don't remember them offering to be witnesses though. Heck I didn't even know any of those guys saw anything. I figured they walked outside after they saw a commotion stir. So..pretty deisel huh, lol. Yeah on another forum (off-topic) I was mentioning I thought I'm probably the heaviest P5 driver- 5'11 @ 265lbs. It's funny when people say that because even though I'm into the whole powerlifting, martial arts thing I don't think of myself being big. It's flattering non the less. lol I just wish I had known the employees at GameStop saw it happen. That way I could have a group of witnesses to bury this punk.

Well at any rate, we contacted the kid's family- which took a bit of investigation because his home # was purposely markered out of the police report. We got his insurance info and his claim #. I guess the next step is to contact his insurance company and fax them a copy of the police report....then the battle begins! Like I said before I'm almost sure they are gonna try and get out of paying my damages with his liability.
Hey, but thanks for you interest man- much appreciated. Maybe when I go back to take photographic evidence of the lot to show the distance he had to travel in reverse before striking me- I'll stop in and thank the guys at GameStop for the help they offered.
Again I'll keep you posted as soon as I find out what temperature the punk's insurance company decides to take...

Yeah, I replied to that exercise thread too! I beat you on that category too....Your apparantly diesel, i on the other hand...am not!

The manager told me that he saw the RSX back up into you. Thats just what he told me. His name is John (store manager), if you need him to do/say anything, you might wanna get in touch with him and see what he says he saw and all...But yeah, when I left, they told me that if i talked to you, that they said that you can use them in your case if you have any.

Those guys see the rich spoiled brats all day long. I actually live near Indian Springs Gof course as well, and if he's in the homes that like back up to the golf course....damn!!!! The family must be loaded. Anyway, they posess the same hatred for the spoiled Marlton kids as you do.

you know I feel the same way about trying to keep the new car perfect except for that kid DEFINATLY wouldnt have been walking by the time the police would have gotten there!!(naughty) (smash) (nuts) (bicker) (piss)
