NO clearcoat on our yellow and black Protege's

I found this link that has the paint color code data sheet from PPG. If you look at the bottom in fine print it says "basecoat/clearcoat. When you look at the the color chart all of the paints have two codes. ie BLue it LD/21S, White is YO/UB. I assume that the first number is the basecoat and the second is the clear coat. The yellow is HZ and black is NN, there is not a second number, this tells me there there is a basecoat but not a clearcoat. Does anyone else see anything different? This would explain the yellow pigment I get when I wax my car huh?

I don't see Black Mica on there. Not having clear coat would explain why my car's front end and hood are nicked so easily. I put the B-R-A on my car, but it's not *sob* the same.

1mm of paint and no clearcoat make Carl go crazy...

Thank you for the info master_pp.
It's sad realization that my Pro5 has no clearcoat. What year is this, Mazda, 1979? :'( :wtf: :bs:

Black Mica does have clear coat!!! All nowdays paints are two part systems.. One coat paint and then clear coat.

well you are correct partly...the Black Mica DOES have a clearcoat....all of the metalics do....HOWEVER....the yellow does not.

this topic has been discussed and cussed over and over.....
