No Check Engine Light and Future Insites

Just thought I put it out there since I've heard ppl who have installed an AEM Cold Air Intake(CAI) and/or installed a Vent to Air(VTA) Blow off Valve(BOV) has received a Check Engine Light(CEL).

Install List:
AEM Cold Air Intake
Greddy Type RS BOV

I am proof that it is possible with the right mechanic skills not to trigger CEL when installing these items. Maybe it is just because I installed them together. I used a rubber plug that fit so well it actually looked OEM on the vacuum hose. I got the plug by luck when I went by my local Advanced Auto Parts Store, they had just thrown a rubber plug away that just so happened to fit perfect. Free = Best

Easy install considering what I have heard from many ppl's listing, both items took me 30 minutes total. Which included jacking the car up taking my wheel off and removing the casing to completely remove the oem air intake.

This is just for informational purposes for newcomers to the MazdaSpeed6 or cars in general. (Tis the reason I spelled out each term 1st)

I personally just bought my 2007 MazdaSpeed6 a month or so ago. I think she rides beautifully, and I have a whole house of plans for her.

To you build a beast guys, I'm currently researching what I will do to my car, thank you chrisseccs your difficulties in modifying your car has helped me greatly in choosing my paths.

I will most likely do a full custom job, I'm sorry to say but the performance parts for our car is overpriced and frankly don't show huge gains. When my funds are clear I will begin extensive R&D on my car, most definitely I'll let you guys know what I did.

Insite on my plans I hope to be pushing over 500 whp in the end, yes I know it'll be pricey, that's why I'm getting all the funds in order first. I'll be doing extensive work on the drivetrain for sure.

Not to be a dick, but what type of "mechanical skills" were involved in not setting off a CEL? Some people get them (I think) and some don't. No one ever said that running a VTA BOV on the MS6 was impossible, it's just dumb. There is absolutely no performance advantage to running VTA.

I love morons!

Mechanical skills meaning, I didn't mess up, I knew what I was doing. I put that in there, so if anyone wanted to do the same setup possibly and did get a CEL, it wouldn't be because it didn't work, it would be because something may not be sitting right. I did say something about "informational purposes" didn't I?
(blah)
As far as the VTA BOV, I VTA because I didn't have an adapter handy. I understand it poses no performance advantage, though I do believe it can be a performance advantage in something I am planning to do, but that's off the subject. Reason why I leave it VTA, because I do actually like hearing it loud and clear, the sound is let's see, sekse as hell. I don't care how ricer it may seem, but if I'm not going to love my car for what I do to it, why do I do what I do to it? Make any sense at all?

His post count explains it all.

Post count = mechanical skills

Wow, let me get to posting, I'll be the best mechanic ever.

Sorry for my sarcasm, but how else can I put it to such a stupid remark. (braindead

Lol wow you must have the magic tough because you didn't trip a CEL when installing you CAI and BOV. Which you have VTA. Totally useless and rice IMO. There is a way to measure mechanical skill, they are called ASEs. Which I'm certified in 6 of them. FYI.

Did you read this part of my post. I don't care how many ASEs you supposedly have, you still haven't mastered reading.

I didn't get on here to argue, I'm sorry you haven't been laid in years. It's not my problem, find something else to bash.

My "supposed" certifications. all i did was state the obvious.

Welcome to the board!
That sounds like awesome news. I'm sure we all look forward to hearing how you make 500 whp on your brand new Speed6. A lot of people have tried to get to that magical number only to have blown engines. It will be nice to see someone with a 500 whp Speed6 finally!

Keep us informed of your progress!

This thread went to hell.

Actually, it went to hell with the first post.

Thats great you installed a cai and bov, be proud of yourself. IF you could do that, i think your ready to install a new shift knob. Just remember, counter-clockwise to unscrew.

Just kidding.

If you get to 500hp without breaking anything.(Rods, Transfercase, Rear diff, etc) Ill envy you, then cut Gwyneth Paltrow 's head off and mail it in a box to you.

Dude seriously quit posting here if you aren't going to put any real input. Same to anyone else that came to bash. I'll freely trash talk all day and night, but this thread is not the place.

lol, I know, I've been reading. Thank you for welcoming to the board. I think you didn't read it correctly though, I don't have a MazdaSpeed6 with 500 whp currently. Me and my friends from our shop are currently doing extensive research to see exactly what we can do. I'll gladly keep everyone informed on my progress when the time is right. As of right now, it's too premature to list any real work being done.

Dude seriously, if you didn't like the post, don't post a reply. Simple as that. I'm through talking to you.

Man u need some prozack(sp?) Calm down. U wanna be on the forums you need to be able to take some ribbing.

"Dude, wheres my car?" "Dude i dunno dude"

On the real tho. 500hp is gunna be "pricey" as you put it. Your looking at forged everything, huge turbo upgrade, and ur gunna have to have some way to fuel it (thats where DISI sux) then your gunna have to get a hell of a tune. Putting it to the ground is another story.Aftermarket has yet to upgrade transcase/rearend 4 us.

wow..... for "informational purposes" you are telling the other newbs that VTA is ok and will have no ill effects on a speed6 and will only serve to be a good mod just because you like the louder sound?

good luck with your R&D...... hope you have a shortblock on order.

amen_ms6, how long have you been driving the car with bov installed.

since I bought it 5000 miles

I do.

jville has a point, you read chris's thread. Chris is having trouble just making 350hp with his setup, and that is just the engine part of it. amen_ms6 im just hoping your parents have deep pockets. And remeber, you dont have to go with buying parts, you said you have a shop and friends?idk Just custom make parts, ex exhaust, intake, fmic. And try to do the work yourself with your awesome skills.

man, a brand new car and already your buying a block.

Y dont u try to make high hp with the stock block. I know rods are weak but if you have money to shell out for a new block, y not.
