No Cats + No Resonator = HORRIBLE

it was loud and evil. everything was completely covered in soot. the insulation under my hood looked like it was set ablaze, so i had to replace it.

apparently the radiator was melted by the wastegate, so after buying an awr high performance radiator, the guy who used to own my car didn't feel it was high enough priority to at least get some type of dump tube for the wastegate. he sold the car shortly thereafter. the fans were both partially melted, and i still find more soot hiding almost every time i go under my hood or take my bumper off.
 
Yeah, Spool told me to leave my dump tube open. . .the moment I went into boost, I knew I needed to change it. . .sounded like a '71 el camino with a cracked exhaust manifold (for example).

I run a cat and a 3" magnaflow. . .yes pimping sound clip again. . .

Soundclip isn't working for me.....
 
Well I got my resonator put back in, and it sound 100 x better!

It sounds cool now because there is little to no rasp and it sounds like a V8 at idle.
 
Mine has a deep rumble at idle too. But when I open er up, she's downright pissed off. Sounds like a rally car.
 
lol all i have now is 1 cat i have no resonator, 2.25 non mandrel bent pipeing and an apexi N1 muffler + ractive headers, sounds great, not THAT loud but it is unbearable at 3500-4000 rpm, but that 4500-5500 rpm its dead quiet.. ???

It's all about resonant frequencies. Mine resonates most between 2-3000 RPM, but it's not so bad at higher RPM, although still loud, doesn't 'boom' inside the car. Your 4500-5500 is most likely an acoustic dead spot. Nothing on/in your car shakes at that frequency.
 
holy crap i still have both cats, stock piping, no resonator and a auger style muffler and mines loud as all hell i have to drive through my nieghborhood in 5th to keep from waking the neighbors.
 
Do you guys think my car will sound like s*** with my future set-up? Wagner shorty header-----> Hi-flow pre-cat Wagner N/A downpipe-----> Wagner 2.5' Catless mid-pipe-----> HKS axle-back exhaust.
 
Not neccesarily. Make sure you have a resonator. It'll probably be loud, but you won't know how it sounds til you have it installed. Mine's loud as hell, but it sounds good.
