How long do you want the drive to be? It's 10 miles each way to and from New Hope, that road alone is a decent ride. But there's much better roads a few miles north of that, and a few a bit west. I drive from about an hour and 15 minutes away from this area once a month just to ride around. My usual loop is about 40 miles total. My question to you is: How long do you want the Protege drive we're having to be? Of course, if you don't want to participate in the ride, I could just give people directions to Hooters and a time to meet there. But I'm sure most of the people attending want a fun drive with a pack of Protege's :)

Personally, I would make the drive as long as possible and still be reasonable (I'd set, say, 50 miles to be the absolute maximum). But the choice is yours. Please only vote if you plan on attending the meet.

Im gonna head down toward that area and take a cruise tomorrow afternoon. Ill keep an eye of my mileage, and see how long a nice cruise takes. Maybe ill take some pics if my batteries are good.

EMT: any cool roads you want to point me to, i usually dont wander around to far. Some times i head up to 202, i usually just go all around the washington crossing/newhope/Pineville area.

I usually take Rt 32 to New Hope, then stay on 32 North for several miles (10-15). Lots of twisties up there.

I'm not sure how to get to them any other way (I'll have to check my map), but I think these should definitely be included: Take 202 South into Lahaksa (Peddler's Village). Make a left onto Street Rd. Follow Street Road to the end. About a 1/4 mile from the end of Street Road, there is a fairly steep downgrade. The road is completely straight, and flying over that hill is a lot of fun. Make a left at the end of Street Road onto Thompson Mill Road. Make a right onto Eagle Road, and you'll go directly over a mountain (very fun, even at the speed limit).

From Rt 32 south of New Hope: Turn down the road that leads to Bowman's Hill Tower. Pass the tower, they'll be a sharp right bend, then a long straightaway with some decent elevation changes. Make a left at the end, and you'll pass by a few other good, (not-blind) curves.

I'm probably heading down on Sunday for a drive. Don't blame me if you get lost from my directions above...I know the area by sight, but don't remember exactly which way to go using only street names.

Not to sound like a pussy or anything, but I'd be kinda worried and causious about driving close together with a bunch of people I do not know. You never know when somebody will pull something crazy as 20 cars are driving in a train formation on a single lane street up a mountain or something. Just giving the heads up if you haven't though of that. Now, where were we?

Later.

Good point.

I'll be leading this thing, and I know the area well. I'm going to keep the speed at a fun, yet still safe for just about any driver, speed. Generally, for the roads around the area, 10 mph over the limit is PLENTY of fun, still safe, and slow enough to not be bothered with the police (which are very rare in the area except in New Hope).

I think that we can all appreciate the need to drive safely. Would you really want to hit another Protege? :)

Edited: Removed the stupid rules that I had thought of. They were stupid.

as long as I don't have to drive a wracked P5 home I'd be very happy. :D I'm sure most of us attending the meet are responsible drivers. Humm... maybe I'd opt to stay at the back of the pack then... :D

Your Idea is good, but still greatly unpredictable. We're still assuming that the other driver will follow your "rules." If you think that you can or want to take that responsibility more power to you. As for ideas, they all are dependend on the drivers' willingness to follow them.

I think everything will be fine, just keep a safe distance and no showing off. No one wants to do damage to their cars or get arrested.

Custom MSP- i cant wait to see your blue msp in person, love the pics. Laser blue is the best color.

Definitely. We're having this meet to have fun, not to show off. I think everyone coming is responsible enough to realize that showing off what your car can truly do is something for the track.

I don't expect any problems with the group that's attending.

i enjoy a little fast cruising and competitiveness but nothing too dangerous. I will opt to be toward the front of the pack. But realize this is just a drive not a race. Attempting to imply rules that should just be understood isnt a good idea...i say we start the drive off with this. " ok nobody be a dickhead and lets have some fun"

lets have fun..i dont know about guys..but i drive outright hard...so we should be "briskly" moving along..and when i say briskly i mean gas petal through the firewall

amen brothers... i have a very important announcement to my brethren who enjoy hard driving. i will save it for the meet though. ITS BIG!!!!

For everyone's information: The weighted average of the votes is currently 37 miles as of Oct. 3 @ 7:30pm.

I love to drive hard myself, so long as no-one else is right up my ass. I'm in for some mileage too...so long as there's plenty of twisties. After I pick my wife up on the way home from work, I take these back roads in havertown at about twice the speed limit...feel the G's!!!!! She get's car sick every time..I'll have to warn her before so that way she'll know what she's gettin' in to!! LOL!!

Yeah, it seems like we're going to have a mixed bag of drivers. Some like to drive hard, some like to drive a little slower. Like I said before, I'm going to be setting the pace, I'm going to keep the speed low enough to be safe and to avoid run-ins with the police, yet fast enough to be some fun.

It's really just to show everyone what's around the area. I'm going to be printing out maps for everyone, so if you like the drive, but want to drive it faster, keep the map and drive it harder on your own time. The entire Bucks County area is a great place for day trips, I go down at least once a month.
