NEWSBREAK: Revised 'official' RX-8 HP ratings!!!

WOW! This thread was uh.... interesting reading. All I can say is that atleast the car manufacturers are all taking a step in the right direction. Without the competition between who can build the faster car we would all be driving peices of s*** and would not be having this conversation. Just my .02 cents.

with so many 2 cents people are giving out, the admins should have enough money to run this site for months!!!!

I'm pretty sure it's the auto. Plus the drivetrain loss is pretty bad from the corresponding post on rx-8 club. It's still a sweet car IMO.

nope 247 er 238 hp 6sp mt

Auto's shut down at 7500 RPM while the manual shuts down at 9000 RPM.

Original RX-8 horsepower ratings wrong so Mazda offers rebate

If youre an RX-8 enthusiast who can put up with Mazdas 1.3-liter twin-rotary engine not producing the horsepower as originally promised, its worth it to Mazda to keep you happy.

Mazda officials say after modifying the cars powertrain control module to meet required federal emissions standards, the RX-8 with manual transmission is producing 238 hp, down from the promised 247 hp, while the automatic- trans model is down 10 hp to 197 hp. Mazda says the drop in power doesnt affect the cars 0-to-60-mph times, however.

To make amends with some 3000 RX-8 buyers who purchased the car or placed an order by Aug. 26, Mazda will provide a $500 debit card and free maintenance for four years or 50,000 miles. Still unhappy? Mazda will discuss repurchasing your car. Mazdas offer is good until Oct. 1.

What I'm really looking forward to is this anti-detonation device that they're working on for rotaries. It's said to allow you to run much leaner afrs, safely, on 87 octane. Hmm!

If it's really as good as it seems, maybe we'll be able to pull some more power from the RENESIS :D

ps. were my posts really bad enough in this thread to get deleted? PM me next time, I'll edit them ...

You don't really mean that do you :) Big Ben has stepped on a few toes here, but I still think the S2K is a great car and I have to agree with a lot of his comments.

I don't take any offence to stuff like that. Idiots will be idiots. He just showed everyone how stupid he is.

Wow, I thought the RX7 was more powerfull than that. It has the exact same power as the S2000 but with more torque(a lot more). But it takes not one,......but two turbos to get it there.(rofl) Quick, someone make a pathetic comeback.(rofl)

1) S2000
2) Infinity G35
3) WRX
4) RSX Type -S
5) Rx8
6)Miata

Good enough?

That's hilarious.(rofl)

Disclaimer: The RX8 is still a cool car in my book even though it's not that fast. It's still fast, but just not that fast.
