91 Mazda 323
Folks,

My name is Kevin, son's handle is "Beastie".

We picked up a slightly used, well cared for 91 323 that has bcome our fix-it-up passion.

1.8 FI, auto and four doors of stick to the road, goes great little sled.

I am a SBC/Bowtie snob, own a pair of M-37 Dodge military pickups, of which one is under reconstruction.

Beastie is soon to be 15, driving already, the "Sam" car is his first ride.
We're working on making it dependable as well and "cool" for a teenage boy.

Looking forward to meetin' other Mazda owners, and hopefully will meet Reasonably Knowledgeable Individuals here in the Forums.

Kevin and the Beast.

Welcome to the forums Sir as well as your son! I hope you will find this place as fun and informative as the rest of us do. If you need any info on anything mazda related, search feature is an incredible tool on our forums, but if for some odd reason you can't find what you're looking for through the search feature, then ask us, and I'm pretty sure that you'll find what you will be looking for (thumb)

Keep in touch!

welcome! You say your 323 is a four door? If it is indeed a 1991 and a 4 door, it is a protege not a 323. Do you know the trim level?

Accually the protege was badged "protege 323" until I believe the end of the 91 model year. Than they receive just the "protege" badge.

There is a very good aftermarket for this model. I own a 93 lx. If you want you son to have a cool car then you could get the jdn grill, front and rear bumpers, headlights and corners and trunk lid garnish. I will post up some pics of what I'm talking about tonite when I'm on the computer. I can only do so much on this phone lol.

If you have any questions about the 90-94 protege ask away. I have quite a bit of knowledge on these cars. Everything from tune-ups to engine swaps.

yes the 1st gen pro are great cars, good handling, and can be made ot handle even better with a few parts. some basic parts form junkyards work well also.
hit up a yard if you cna find a mx3 v6 grab the rear tie bar great part for 5-15 bucks. Also grab the seats are comfy and hold better and can be found anywhere from 30-100 fo rhte set, if your car has drum brakes in the rear, grab a set of disc brakes form the mx3 or find another protege or ford escort gt (91-91 or tracer lts and grab the rear spindle and all the brake parts will swap. if you want ot keep cheap, the 95096 escort gt had headers well a short cast iron header will get you going for awhile.
jeep it tuned.

and listen to TURPRO93 he has a killer project going on right now. pic in his sig is a start.

The lx protege 90-94 had rear wheel disks along with bigger front disks. My suspension is zx2 sr struts(made by tokico) that I got for 155 shipped for all for. That's 1 of the best struts that fit our car(imo) my springs are b&gs. I have the rear lower tie bar from the v6 mx3, great addition. And I also have the energy suspesion poly bushing kit from the zx2 escort. Let me tell you. It handles great.

To get a taste of some of the things you can do to it go to www.corksport.com they have body kits, suspention upgrades, ect.

Thanks bro.

Yea the seats will sit you about 2 inches lower than the protege ones. If you grab some from the jy you have to grab the seat rails. I have them. They are very supportive and comfy just like alien said.
