recently i have been looking into getting rid of the factory turbo for my car and looking at my different options for turbo replacements. i have been looking at atp turbos , the bnr stage 2 turbo or the protege garage k04 rebuilt turbo....

after adding the magnaflow catback exhaust system my car has been running like crap lately and i know its because i need a real tune for the car...so i figure since my car is smoking here and there i should just replace the turbo since i am looking for a little more power and fun for the car...i am in a position where i can't do any work to my car and most likely i will have to pay a friend or a shop to install the turbo and then go and have the car tuned after.

i am also aware that i will need to buy the cpe fuel pump as well which i plan on doing at the same time.

but here is what i dont want...i personally like my exhaust system the way it is right now...i am happy with the stock 2.5 inch down pipe and my magnaflow exhaust and testpipe...i am not looking for a crazy boost in power...just something thats better and more reliable then what i have now.

bnr told me today that their stage 2 turbo will bolt up to my stock 2.5 inch downpipe and my 2.5 inch turbo inlet pipe. he said the best option for me would be to get the stage 2 turbo and get the carbon sealed turbo and then i would have to switch to a non synthetic oil...if i did this i wouldnt have any more issues with smoke. also with the stage 2 turbo i would have to remount the boost control solenoid but i will leave that to the person in charge of installing the product.

so please i am looking for people suggestions and ideas on the issue. i have thought about the downpipe issue but the whole thing is i would need to get a downpipe with a hi flow cat due to emissions laws and those are in the price range of $750 before install. my price range is around $2500-$3000

thanks people

Honestly, for your goals the BNR Stage 2 is hard to beat. Yes, it's not the cheapest option, but you'll get everything you're looking for without the issues associated with the ATP turbos nor the reliability issues with a rebuilt K04.
