hi some of you have seen my diy short throw shifter thread

I'm looking into getting the tabs made right now

the one i made for my car raised the connecting point of the linkage to the shifter a lot
so much so that i had to use a sand / dremel tool to remove some plastic from under the console cause the shifting cable rubbed
but you can not tell any thing was done from the out side after it's all put back together

with the connecting point so high up the shifter it makes the throw really short
but i realize people do not want to have to cut out any plastic even if they can not see it when there done

so i lowered the point and the plastic will not have to be removed ,but the throw will be a little bit longer but not much

my throw is so short that when people get in the car to drive it i see they keep pushing the shifter forward cause they can't believe there in gear already
and then they get the feel of it

i do not see the need for the bushings
nor do i like the short shifter rod

my tab is a little different so no it is not exactly the same as TMW
it is just another option

if you want bushings they sell them at the hard wear store

Not to undermine what you are doing here but TWM makes two different kits. The Stage 1 kit keeps the stock shifter height.....but it is still $110. If you were to make a kit for <$30 I think you would sell a few.

i will have kits starting Monday or Tuesday
new pics of the tab instruction , and a price
do not worry the new tab is a lot better looking

If you are thinking of selling these you will need to be a vendor. Please contact admin. if this is your intent.

Thanks.:D

yes i know
I'm waiting till every thing is a go and i have tabs i hand
so i do not wast anyones time

TWM just added their stage-1 option a few days ago in response to requests at another forum. I was interested...until I saw the price. It seems pretty outrageous to charge that kind of money for a metal plate...but whatever...if someone can do it cheaper I'd be interested.

OK
I,m happy to say that the tab will be ready to ship out on Thursday
will have the pics and info posted on Tuesday

the throw on the stock shifter is
from N to 3rd is 2-1/4"
from N to 4th is 1-1/2"
from 3rd to 4th is 3.75"

my short throw is
from N to 3rd is 1-1/2"
from N to 4th is 1"
from 3rd to 4th is 2-1/2"

i can make it shorter but you will have to remove some plastic with a sander or a dremle from the bottom side of the console
my total throw on mine is just under 2"

had a welder problum but fixed now will have pics Wednesday
