My baby needs new shoes. Any ideas about Hancook ventus v12? Also, will i be able to go up to 225 without any issues? Thanks

I personally don't recommend the Hankook V12 Evos just cuz of the soft side walls and not holding consistent pressure, other then that they seem to work OK...I'm going to be selling my MS6 wheels mounted with V12's in stock 215-45's and tpms if your interested...

and yes you can go to 225-40 or 45's both are ok.

the v12 evos are rated #2 on car and driver for summer wheels. im not an expert on tires but i see them on a lot of performance coupes like m3s

i ran the v12's on my MSP after my dunlop dirzera z1's wore out, the price was right. overall i was happy but they do have softer sidewalls, i did notice a little more squish over the dunlop's. just my 2 cents

If you are okay with paying slightly more for the tires, but I believe with stiffer side walls, check out the Hankook Ventus V4ES'. I ran those on my P5 and i never heard a peep out of them around corners. the side walls were pretty stiff for the tire also. Fun tires all around IMO

I run on 235/40/18 conti contact dws and dont have any issues on fitment or performance

I strongly recommend the V12 Evos for this car. Tames the bump and torque steer alot over a stiff, square sidewall tire like the RE50s. That type of tire is a disaster on high-powered FWD on anything but a billiard table surface.

They are a great real world tire for people not circulating a race track daily. I've had zero problems of any kind with these tires.

I have about 1k miles on these tires and I like them a lot. 225/40/18 will fit fine, that is what I have currently.

I think this is the best value tire that you can get. The only tire that I would choose over this one would be the Continental ExtremeContact DW, but it is a little pricier. GRM and TireRack both seem to love that tire, especially in the rain.

Oh and Tire Rack has a $60 MIR on the Hankooks: http://www.tirerack.com/specialoffers/terms.jsp?promoID=H114 (2thumbs)

No comment on the Hankooks, never owned a set.

But if you are stock rim width, 7", then 225/40 was the best setup I've had yet on that size wheel. If you're on a larger width, like I am now, 8", then I'd go with the 235/40.

Let us know what you buy and you're feedback, I'm always looking to try another tire out.

Currently on RT615K's and though they are suppose to be the same compound but with a stiffer side wall, I don't like them as much as the original RT615.

+1 on the Evo's. They are amazing. I bought my MS3 used and the previous owner had them on there. I researched tires and realized he had picked wisely. My fronts are bald after about a year while the rears were in the same condition as when I got them. I rotated the rear ones up front and now get that old feel back. I'm planning on just getting 2 new ones and rotating 2 in annually. My aggressive driving really wears these down.

Also, if you go with these remember to keep checking pressure as I find them to lose pressure over a rather short period of time. At least, this has been my impression.

I have a set of Yokohama Avid H4S and am pretty impressed with them. I also had the same set on my '02 Sentra SE-R Spec V. They are good in the rain and they seem to last quite a while. I've had these on since I bought the car and have driven 22,000KM on them with not alot of wear. And they are fairly cheap.

I know this is an old thread, but I have these tires on my car and they are now nearing the end of their life.

I can't be sure exactly how long they lasted, but if I had to guess, it'd be around 25,000 miles. I can probably get another 5,000 miles or more out of them. The soft sidewall does suck. I got a bubble in one of the tires pretty early on. Hankook replaced it under their manufacturer warranty, but then I got a bubble on a different tire after it was out of warranty. I don't hit many potholes, so I'm surprised that it bubbled so easily. The grip is amazing on the wheels. Way outperforms the OEM Potenzas when it's wet outside. I even rode on the Hankooks in the winter with minimal issues.

It's a good tire, but I think I'm going to shop around for something a bit better next time.

V12's...38.5 psi ft, 35-35.5 psi in rears (235/40-18's on RX-8 rims, 08 MS3)...Koni FSD's with stiffer rearSB..great dry tire and decent in heavy wet if speed toned down a bit in higher speed curves. Kumho XS's in same size a tad better, better turn in and never squealed in protest like Hankook's..V12's would also trigger ABS sooner than XS's suggesting lesser grip. ContiExtreme DW's are interesting..225/45-18 size..quieter, more compliant ride with surprisingly good grip..used when ambient temps got down in Fall/Winter range here in western NC...great tread wear and 80-90% as good as the 2 above but with wider margin of safety in cold/rain
