new scuff plates

I ordered these off ebay about 8 days ago. they just came in UPS today. i think they look great especially with my silver car. looks like it came from the factory

I looked at those before I bought mine. They are a bit more costly but shinnnyyyy. How was the install? Just 3M tape?

Yea i like yours and deffinately thought about gettin red to go with the interior but was to lazy to get into all the wiring so just went with the factory look yepp just 3M tape, cant get much easier and it feels like its really on there.

Hey so I noticed you guys installed them differently. One of you put it on the metal, the other on the plastic. Where are they supposed to go?

They're supposed to go on the plastic. The metal part of the sill will also get scuffed up unless you're careful, which worried me, so I applied some 3M clear film there to protect it.

it depends on which kind you have. Mine are illuminated so they go on the plastic since they are thicker.

I'm starting to think it goes on the metal. I looked at the ebay seller and the chrome ones appear to go on the metal. They don't really fit on the plastic, unless I bend back the weather stripping.

yea i always thought it went on the metal cause thats where i always saw it on other cars.. but like redkills said it probably depends on the plates.

Yeah Pattinjr, I think the ones we bought are supposed to go on the metal. They don't interfere with the door at all right?

nope not at all. door shuts flush and theres no scraping sounds or anything like that. they fit perfect.

I telephoned Mazda Dealer who then put me through to the workshop and I asked this question.

Reply: The ordinary scuff plates go on the metal part.
