new pcm flash for the msp as of tonight

Something I just wanted to throw out there...
What about the Airflow Logistics AFC owners(me included)? We had to hardwire into the ECU, so if this new flash actually does exist, could we still get it? Is it even needed since we have the AFC? Maybe DSM can chime into this one...I guess I'll shoot him a PM real quick...
 
just checked with both Mazda NA and 2 local dealerships...all of them said there is not a new flash...they letter was more than likely an update notice on procedures....though I'm not exactly sure what you would change about...plug in unit and upload new flash......but with mazda who knows...afc shouldnt get in the way of the flash...they use the obdII port to load it...the afc only changes the external sensor inputs....
 
This sure is something. My dealership told me that it was an upgraded flash from the one I had recently. I told them I was waiting to see what others thought of the flash before getting it done. Something weird here....
 
I phoned my local dumb asses, sorry dealership, and they couldnt even confirm that a new one was available. He said somethig like "flashes come out all the time, we would need to get your car in to check it out to see if it had the new one", so I asked him if he could confirm or deny if a new one was available and repeated his line again "flashes come out all the time......."

:wtf:

we need a dealership with a brain to answer this one.

(dunno) (dunno) It gets even better, now they are saying that they aren't sure if this is a new and improved flash and they will look into it. Not sure what or who to believe anymore. I'll let you guys know if they come back to me with some conformation. (dunno) (dunno)

edit: I just sent my dealer an email. We shall see what he says.
edit:I also contacted Commie Speed to see what he could find.

I say screw it. Tell them you want it. If it's the same, so what and if it's different then cool. Also this thing about the flashed cars running lean....just not true. My flashed 03.5 is PIG rich when in any kind of boost level.

Just called my dealership and he didn't know anything but at least said he would look into it...

its much easier to scroll all the way down, click in the box, write something relevant to the word "subscribing" and clicking post. :D

I can't wait to hear more about this. My car hesitated right after I got it the first time, I mean as soon as I pulled out the dealer it was hesitating.
 
wishful thinking, but it would be nice if it also fixed the rough idle/dipping to 200rpm at idle. i cleaned the EGR valve and that didnt help.
 
Okay guys heres the scoop.

No new calibration of the flash. The New TSB was only there to change procedure, in which they tell you to not remove fuses and you don't have to test drive anymore.

I called Mazda Tech Line to ask them why it said it had a different calibration, I was told the calibration did not change, however the procedure that the WDS prompts you to had changed.

Sucks eh. Get an MPI and you can give yourself your own new "flash".
