New MZ3 5-door owner!!

Well, it finally happened. I got a 93 Civic HB (12.4 1/4 mile) stolen for parts i bet . . . So went looking at all the cars on the market. Tried the V-spec, tried the MZ3 2.0, tried the Civic HB SI . . Then I tried the MZ3 5door!! SOLD! Came home that day and researched more then enstien himself! Found you guys and read like there was no tomorrow. Finally made the decision on getting the MZ3 5-door in white(Live in AZ, GETS HOT!!!!!!).
I love the car so much, it isn't even funny. I do have a few Q's about some things thouygh if you all could help . .
1) My car had 300 miles on it already.(Drove it from another dealer to me) I had to drive back out to phonix today to get some stuff(about 100 miles both ways.) I just read the owners manual tonight and noticed that it said to try not to drive for extended periods of time at a constant speed. . . . SH*T! I used my cruise control most of the time there and back!!! I'm already at 500 miles. Is this bad overall for my engine? Should i go out tonight and push her a little to break it in a little more?
2) I read over and over and over again about oil changes and so forth. I was wondering what the BEST time to change oil is for break in. I hear it is at 500-600 miles, but just want to be sure. My dealership said that I should wait till 1,000 but I know that a broken in car has tons of metal particales floating in the oil. So, just wonering if I should wait till 1,000 or go and get it changed tomorrow?
3) I have been noticeing a little odd thing that kinda eats at me with the shifter on this car. When shifting into 3rd, if i push into it, i can feel it vibrate pretty good. But if i just shift into it without pushing, it is fine. Just wondering if anyone has that problem with theirs?

Dude, Congradulations! I too, live in AZ. Tucson, yeah, summers suck. Anyway..."Breaking In". Hmm, depending who you talk to, you will hear different things. Most will tell you to drive it hard for a while. I heard a good explination for this, but an attempt to re-tell it will just make me look ignorant (which I am). But as I under stand this, most people, when test driving a car will drive it pretty hard to see what it's capable of (yup I'm guilty). So chances are you are ok. You got the extended warranty, yes? (JK)
Don't worry about it, unless you plan on making it a competition car.
As far as an oil change goes....wait til you hit the 1000k mark. (I say this because thats what I did).
As far as the shifting thing goes...no problem here, the air conditioner could have some bigger balls though. Its pretty puny.
I will make a recomendation if I may be so bold:
Invest in a good radar detecter if you don't already have one(he he)! (laugh)

Congrats on your new 5dr and enjoy! I've heard a wide variety of opinions on both break in and first oil change. I happened to get mine changed at about 1100 miles. Had wanted to get it done at 600 instead but ended up not having time before needing to take a trip. You still have some break in period left so just try to vary your rpms for the hundred or two miles. I bet you'll be fine.

Welcome

Congrats on the car, I'm a fan of the white too. You should be OK in reguards to the cruise situation, now you know. I also changed the oil @ 1000mi. The dealer was like WTF? I said "change it dammit". As for the shifting thing I got the Manumatic but I have heard ppl on the board complaining of the 5spd. Good luck.

Let's give new Mazda3 members a chance to settle here before suggesting they visit the "other" board.

Thanks :)

Congrats on the car Ive had mine 2 weeks now and love it, I wish I lived in AZ with the sun all I get in Seattle is the liquid kind. I was talking to a buddy of mine who is a mechanic and he was saying for me to do my oil change now and Im right around 600, he also recommended I run synthetic any suggestions on that?

I recommend that you go to the local dealer and drive both the 4DR and the 5DR. I did and I fell in love with the 5DR. Never hads a "hatch" (or for that matter a import car) before and this car is, and does continue to amaze me (and select friends I take for rides). All I can say is GO DRIVE ONE!
