2007 Mazda CX7 AWD
Just wanted to say hi to everybody. I just purchased a 2007 CX7 AWD. I love the car, but the last car I had was decently modified and the bug has alreday hit me w this one. The last car I put a FWI, shift kit, HV3 intake insert(make and model specific), and had a computer tuning interface on my laptop for it. So, if anybody will show me to some threads were I cna find some basic information like recomended shift points, launch techniques, and the one question thats been bugging me since I bought this car, what is the difference in the engine for the CX7's and the mazdaspeed cars. It seems like they are the same, but this one is detuned. Also, if it is just detuned, what can I do to get the HP and TQ #'s up to the MS cars or if it's even possible. Any information would be helpful and thank you for your time.

welcome, i'm looking into buying one myself right now. it is detuned, but it also uses a smaller turbo than the speeds. check out corksport and protege garage for parts. i know there are some good intakes, exhausts, bov's, and other goodies to get you started.

Thanks for the warm welcome. when the season starts, i plan on takin it down the 1/4 mile a few times and was just wondering, is it better to leave it in drive and let it shift for you or should i manual shift it? Also, if I do manual shift it, where should i shift @. I know the power band goes from around 2300 rpm to 5000-5100. So I dont see redlining it during a manual shift. But I am new with this CX7 so any information would help. Thanks again

I find tapping the shifter in the 5500-5700 RPM range is what works the best. Leaving it in drine the computer takes it up to around 6200 RPM which is a waste with our set-up, the CX-7 completely runs out of steam past 5800 RPM.
