Googled my way here earlier today and thought I'd introduce myself as I'll probably be lurking around reading through the tons of threads on here.

My wife and I bought a Protege 5 last year (Used 2003) and love it. Looking to see what you all have done to yours and what simple things I may want to do to mine.

Hello!

I haven't been here long but the first thing I did was get the Kartboy Shifter Bushings ($38 shipped). They are pretty inexpensive and easy to install but I like the change in shifter movement. I would describe it as making the shift action become more firm and stable, I think some people have used the word "notchy" (though that might have been for the KartBoy Short Shifter). They don't add any performance but make me feel more controlled with the shift lever. I really want to put my short shifter in and see how it feels but having %^#% install problems.

I also recommend looking/searching in the How-To section for some easy electrical mods. They add conviences such as making the windows work without the keys in the ignition and take away annoying things like the dash chime when the driver's door is open and the keys are in the ignition. The stuff by ZapWizard is crucial.

Thats basically what I have done and like the results so far. Too bad the damn mail takes forever or I'd be having so much fun doing installs.

Lol nice coincidence. My Integra was a 95 though.

Interesting...I hadn't noticed it being noisy, but then again I've never had the rack off either. I'm assuming you've noticed a considerable noise difference?

Did taking the rack off leave holes in your roof? I haven't ever looked closely at how they're mounted.

Personally, I found it to be a noticeable difference - I do a lot of highway driving and that's when it was most apparent.
There's inserts for the gaps in the rails. I found mine in the trunk in the same place as the spare tire. Can probably find them on ebay too.
Real easy, only takes 10min.

Like the sig cable, your Protege looks super clean. I looked for a long time and couldn't find any Blue ones here...is that the stock paint? Looks a bit more royal blue than the stock ones I've seen.

Welcome to the forum. I definitely suggest Kartboy Short Shifter and Bushings. That is more of a pleasureable driving experience thing than a performance thing. Anything performace wise you can just search to find for.

This place is like a virus. You'll be happy with your ride untill you start to mod and then it becomes a sickness. My P5 looked just like yours and now....

Looks good, even just removing the mazda logo and putting those eyelids on alone looks great.

I've searched ebay etc...for clear lights to replace the orange ones on the side...anyone know where I can get em?

What are the specs on your fog lights? I like 'em.
