New Member and also a new owner

Hello, I just wanted to say that I am very excited to be joining the Mazda Forum. I know when you look at my user name you are going to think that sounds like a Honda. I am using that in respect to my last car (which was stolen) Anywayz I just want to move past that and move right on in to a Protege5 :) I have read so much about this car and I would have to say that almost 95% are positive. I am most definately going to purchase this vehicle. I was wondering if you guys/gals might want to give me some pointers the do's/don'ts about this car before purchase with a dealer etc. Any suggestions will help and please I'd like to hear from all you fellow P5 owners.

Rob

P.S. hehe My first Post...gawd how it feels like to be a newb all over again :D

Welcome to the board. Really doesn't matter what options you want on your new P5. It's all a personal preference and how much you are willing to spend. Leather or cloth... Sunroof or roof rack... It's up to you. You'll find that everyone is nice and understanding here. I think everyone can be mature enough to look past the name and welcome you to the board. :D

Truly thanX...I am prolly gonna go with the SE fully loaded. Does Mazda offer factory body kits?

Hi Mugen and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

you really can't go wrong with any of the cars....

but I am confused a little...you said you are going to get a P5....then you said SE???? hmmmm there must be something new out there I don't know about since as far as I know the P5 only comes in ONE body trim option..... or are you from the "great white north" where they do stuff like that? even at that....I didn't know that in Canada that they offered more than one trim option on the P5.

I believe the P5 SE pkg in the "great white north" here refers to the leather, moonroof and polished alloy wheels pkg..

Hey Rob, I noticed you from the T.O. area.... Are you planning to get the sportshift or manual tranny?? Have you done any research on aftermarket parts?? I'm also a proud new owner of a 2003 P5 and I'm looking to get the TWM shifter with Kartboy bushings. Do you know anywhere local where we can find these items or will I need to rely on ordering elsewhere and be forced to wait for the shipment to be delivered.....

hi pcan5, I was thinking of getting the auto with teptronic shifting. This car will prolly be used by my gf, and she cant drive stick. I would love to get the manual because my previous Civic SiR was stick and I love to drive manual. About the SE yea up here it comes with leather/sunroof and all the other goodies. I was wondering does it come with an Immobilizer?

Grabs a heineken from the fridge...=o)

Hi, I am also a pretty new member - I've had my car for a year but just managed to stumble across this forum recently - but I love it here.

I'm pretty sure the P5 doesn't come with an immobilizer. Even if you go with the factory perimeter alarm (which I hope you dont) it still doesnt come with the immobilizer. And yeah, up here in Canada, the SE model is basically the leather seats, sunroof and polished wheels.

Welcome MugenSilverSiR & inflections! (hi)

the only thing I have to say about the Pro5 is don't pay sticker. :) But then that goes for any car. I'm cheap. :D

Mugern -

just do your homework. go to edmunds.com and research invoice/msrp for the car and it's options. find a price point you want to pay, pick a color and tranny, and search MazdaUSA's inventory search for "the car." If your dealer doesn't have it, he can dealer-trade for it if you have a dealer already. In this economy, it's a buyers market (except for limited run or low production cars), so you really shouldn't pay more than a couple hundred over invoice.
Ask them to show you the invoice, as most will. If they refuse, walk away and go to another dealer.

if ya need any pointers, gimme a holler. hell, I'll even call the dealer for ya and help you out!

hehe hiya MSgirl...and haha sure thing sharkonwheels...=o) I am liking the white one now, cleaning purposes It will be great cos it wont leave swirl marks etc...to bad everyone lives so far from one another. We could do some p5 meets.;)
