It's only a 4 banger! 150hp Maybe a low 16 sec. 1/4 mile. Possibly good for a real track like auto x-ing...

True its a 4 banger and I do think if it goes into production it would be an awesome autoxer.

i went to the naias today...and i must say this thing looks even better in person. i would love to have one of them sitting in my driveway...

Production is likely

It's likely to be a production model. Less than $24,000 (Scion tC is the market target) and positioned between the Miata and the RX-8. It is a show car at the moment though so I expect some changes to the interior for a production model. Otherwise it's ready to go. From what I've seen they've already completed the Design For Manufacturability studies. I'm already saving for one. (thumb)

Ya hear that...along the lines of the "Scion tc"...This is VERY interesting...With a price below 24k...This may be a real "hot ticket" for Mazda and the youngins...I wonder what the model name will be?

Nice find SciFiMan (2thumbs)

hmm.. looks like a sedan version of the cx-7 kinda.. but with such low suspected hp it couldnt be.. however, if tuned right, even with 150-160 hp, rwd, light car, it could perform possibly in the low 15 high 14 range.. remember that once it becoms labeled sports car, sports coupe, etc, insurance rates are going to skyrocket. example, SRT-4, 20995 price tag, 6-8000 a year for insurance, with perfect driving record.. and thats a 4-dr.. i would definitely own one of these, i dont care what motor they put in it.. you can always mod it and make small hp gains into big ones.. gorgeous in my eyes, i hope its at philly auto show or NYAS..

in this month's motor trend, they referred to it as the next MX-3

It also mentions it using the MZR inline-four (MX-5 engine)......priced in the mid-teens to low $20,000 range.

If it's really going to compete with the Scion tc...There will be no comparison!

I'm very interested to see the production version and stats...Even with 150hp...You're looking at a very fun and affordable sport compact...A true sports coupe :D

I think they might be blowing smoke with the whole MZR powered thing.Im really hoping that mazda doesnt turn this into the 4thgen RX-7!I read in a magazine that it was a possibility.Us rotorheads deserve something that looks better and perform better than the R35 and the new '07 5.0L Supra!
