New Exhaust for Mazdaspeed Proteges

With more boost and my exhaust, the car pulled much better everywhere, and all the way to 7000rpm. I let my sister drive it before and after, she couldn't believe it. On the track I went from 14.2 @ 99 to 13.99 @ 102 on the stock tires.

I only have the exhaust and an Injen CAI, noticed a big difference in the pull after the exhaust was on. much stronger. and your top end gets a lot better. 60 -80 mph is a lot faster and so is 80-100.

Ive got a new rattling sound now. Its only happens at idle. I was thinking it might be my heat sheild, but i never touched it. Its not constant and i hear it when i turn the car off too. Also its not really a loud rattle.(dunno)

Check by the rear bumber. My can was hitting a shield next to the gas tank. I just slid it over on the hangers a little and I haven't had a noise sense.

Ill do that but it seems like its coming more from the front. I didnt have time to actually get under the car yet.

If its on start up, it could be the cross member too. I put 2 washers under each of my bolts just to be safe.

No its not the cross member. I was looking under the car and reachin with a water bottle to blip the gas nothing was touchin the crossmember. The kartboy hangers to care of that.

it could be a leak, mine sounded like a rattle too, and like it was from the front of the system, but it was coming from the connection where it bolts together above the rear axle. just had to tighten up one of those bolts after a while. I had to get the car up and look under it while my wife feathered the throttle for me to pin point it, but what you described is what i experienced too and that took care of it. besides that, how does everybody like their exhaust? i love mine.

Love is a good word, I think I love mine too.

I read most of this thread and still unclear on 2 things:

How quiet is it really with the silencer installed?
Does it drone annoyingly at highway speed?
I'm hoping it's the same or quieter than stock.

How much horsepower you lose with the silencer on? A dyno show the gains with and without silencer would be cool indeed.

Thx.

It sounds about stock with the silencer in.
Yes it does drone a little bit but not at High way speed.
Im sure you may loose 1 or 2 hp with the silencer in but not enough to tell a differance. You are looking at maybe 15-20 HP gain with this exhaust and a CAI. I would Highly recomend this exhaust and I would also Highly recomend you contact JDM SAM to order it he is the man and will give you a good deal. I have had my Vibrant system on my car for a few months now and I love it and I havent had any problems what so ever with it.

were there any problems w/ install? from what it seemed, u needed some modifications before installing it. i may be wrong.

I had no problems with the install/fitment. My only prob was breaking a stud on the S Pipe.

install was no problem though I would suggest taking your car some where that you can put it on a lift much easier.

I did the exact same thing! damn cheap stock mazda parts.

Yeah...that sucked.

I am going to put in the MAM S pipe when it gets here, so I am planning on breaking a few more studs.
