New CX-5 vs. Hail: No Contest

Does anyone know of a cover that fits the CX-5 that can protect it from hail storms?

Keep it and get the CX-5. It's always good to have a "beater" vehicle if you do much off the beaten path. It probably doesn't cost much to keep it, other than liability insurance.

That's probably a good idea. I could keep the Trib as a fishing truck, boat tower, and winter snow traveler.

New CX-5 vs. Hail: No Contest

I had my 07 WRX for three months before it got pummeled by a hail storm. A paintless dent repair guy at the body shop was able to remove all of the dents and I was unable to tell the difference afterword. Repair was 3k+ and they had the car for over a week. (covered by comprehensive on insurance) Pretty much all labor, and they had to replace a few trim pieces.
Not sure how your hail compared to this:

That were just pea-sized hails and they won't do any dents on cars. What we have had here in Texas were golf-sized, or baseball-sized hails which many times smashed windshield! The bad thing is these hails and tornados make the insurance premium so high here in Texas. We have had water damage and roof damage for the last two years, not only my homeowner insurance premium went up 30%, but also we have been warned that if we have another claim, the policy will get cancelled!

...The only problem is that the Carfax shows it as a Total Loss and dealer trade-in will only offer me $500 on it because of that....ridiculous!
But you did take money and run when insurance company paid you out so everything is just even out...

New CX-5 vs. Hail: No Contest

We had a hail storm yesterday and my 2 month old 2016 CX-5 lost the battle. I am so bummed. The insurance adjuster will be out to look at both cars but I can't imagine how they can get out all of those dings. I can't really get a good shot of it for the forum, but it's probably just as well. Anyone had hail damage fixed? Will it look good again?
We were so lucky for past couple of weeks in Dallas area as we have had only thunders, wind, and most needed rains so far (knock on wood!). We had a year old 1985 VW Jetta got hit by golf-sized hails. At time there was no "Dent Doctor" available. The body shop used body filler to fix all the dents and repainted whole car. The car looked like new for only three to four years, then the paint on those dent areas started to fade and showing all of these old dent marks!

Well, here's an update. Nearly $6000 in damage and the hood has to be replaced. Now, I need to find a good body shop to make sure it looks good again. :(

Offering an update on my 2016 CX-5: It's currently at the body shop and still will be there another 3 or so weeks. They're replacing the hood and roof and working on the dents in the rest of the car. All total (the roof was just added to the replacement), nearly $8000 in damage. Hoping it comes back in great shape!!!
