so i special ordered this car. they shipped it from a nearby (sort of) city. i went to look at it yesterday and there's 124 miles on it, and the outside of the tires has some wear. if this were you, would you buy it? knowing that those could be some hard driven FIRST 124 miles on the engine?

Sure...

I think you should go for it. Whos to say that they have been hard driven miles? There is always the possibility that one of the salesman was driving it, and maybe if it was test-driven it was done by someone who could care less about acceleration and max speed(sorry for the run-on sentence). Anyways, GO FOR IT!

Go for it. Break in period has not begun yet. 124 miles is nothing for these engines.

with regards to the tire wear talk to the dealer they might replace it with new ones.

How could it not be the first xxx miles?

Take it.

Like ILMP5 said. 124 is nothing

I picked up my P5 with 7 miles on it. I have had it since 4/7/02 and have put a little of 2250 on it. Its drives better everyday!

My dad drives for dealerships (transferring from Dealer to auction, auction to dealer, and dealer trades). They check those cars before they leave the deal and when they arrive at the dealer so the driver can't go crazy if they want to keep their job.

I agree here too. If they won't tell them to knock a few hundred of the price so if you wanted you can get new tires.

Good Luck

I agree the break-in period continues after 124, but what if there's not a solid foot to stand on? Could this make it prone to probs in the future?

I wouldn't see why? The car still comes with the full warranty. It's always a crap shoot when buying a new car. You could get a cherry that gives you problems or you could get a lemon that has back at the dealer for something every other week.

Let us know how it turns out.

i say go for it, thats what the warranty is for, plus you would get to make mazda look dumb.

The car should be fine. Even it it was driven hard I bet it's still OK. These cars seemed designed to withstand being pushed now and then.
