We have enjoyed our 2007 Mazda5 for the last 5 years, now its time for a change. I wasn't looking for a car, but they had 0% interest for 5 years and tons of incentives. My Wife was talking about getting an Explorer next year, but I was worried about the excessive cost for a AWD model.

Its a Crystal White Pearl with the Moonroof/Bose package (I bet its way better then the stock radio in my Mazda5), Sand leather interior, large display with back up camera and Power Liftgate (not really needed, but I am sure its nice to have).

Its a bit of a step up! With all of the incentives, it didn't make sense to get an Explorer next year. I think Mazda wants to sell these CX-9s much more then Ford wants to sell the Explorers right now.

Pics to follow..

AWD. Good choice for your neck of the woods.

What are attitudes like in Motor City these days, to cars like ours?

Congrats! I'm with you, not big on the Explorers. See one of my prior posts for pictures of the Ford Explorer Foam engine cover (yes, like a pool noodle). The only nice Explorer is the Limited, which is big bucks, and does not offer anything more than a GT CX-9

Thanks for the welcome! I can't wait to take delivery!

I can't say anything about the CX-9 since I haven't recieved mine yet. I can say this.. people hate the Mazda5. We just bought it brand new and within 3 weeks, we already had a shopping cart thrown at it. We have also been honked at for no reason, cut off on purpose and pointed at (not knowing if they say, euuu or something positive). The 5 looks like a car from Japan, the CX-9 is a little more bland and will blend in more.

I think AWD will come in handy for our area. With my Wife and kids in the car, I want them to be safe. Of course, this doesn't mean we drive like an idiot, but it will help them moving through the snow. I have a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks that work great on the 5, but I am sure the CX-9 will be even better!

Here it is! We are excited about our purchase. This is our first SUV/CUV and look forward to having it a long time.

And, roof rails.

I am sure I will add the accessories soon enough. I bet I will end up with GT wheels eventually too. :) I never keep the stock wheels on my cars.

The only thing I am adding in the very near future is a Class 3 hitch.,

I have three sites for you then.
mazdaparts.org
waynemazda.com
etrailer.com
Have fun.
