NEMOC Random BS Thread

Morning all. Got back yesterday from San Marcos for the Texas Miata Roundup. Had a great time, did some country runs and trips to wineries. But the best day was Saturday where we got track time on Harris Hill Raceway.

There were 2 groups, Open and Lead. Since I had no experience I was put in lead. But it was a blast. Got to go out so many times, at least 10 times and 6-8 laps each time. Got some very fast laps in the afternoon and the guy leading most of my laps took me out in his 10 Miata that was basically stock except for pads and intake, exhaust. Before I was doing 2:00 min laps, he did a 1:34 in his, It was a ball. Cost of all this was 45 bucks PP for the 4 days which included the runs, dinner on Saturday. Roger Beasley Mazda sponsored the track day and it was awesome. Still grinning.
sounds like blast bruce, and for 45$!!! cool!

Nice Ash, did a tiger get the other rider?

Great for DD, not for auto-x or track events. (unfortunately)

+1...loved those for DDivin! i think mike is running my old ones on the track, i'm sure they'll be nothing left of them and yes, not a track tire at all

Yes, I bought them cause with the discount and everything there were much cheaper than the Direzzas. But not happy with them when pushed. Oh well, you learn. At least they are wearing well.

Also working on adding tow light wiring to use the existing rear lights so I don't have to use an external set.

Haha other rider was taking the pic! Went up today and didn't clear that section...caught a pedal :( Only other time I put a foot down was to let a snake go first.

I really wish I would have made it out to the trails this year. Not once.

Morning all. Looking to change sites and move to Galveston TX till Jan. Stay here till later this month and then move to Galveston. Hoping to do the trailer wiring today.

This is the best time of year to ride. Nice and cool and the trails are dry and hard packed. I just spent 3 hours walking my local trails with a leaf blower. They're going to be riding fast once I put pedals to them.

Totally agree. Just can't get out there at all. It's about a 35-40 minute drive to my trails. Weekends are shot due to rehearsals for the Christmas Concert. I'm more or less limited to putzing around my neighborhood on the roadie (if I get out of work on time).

They gripped better than you would expect for 340s, and they never got greasy. They kept the same performance across the whole session on all 7 sessions for each event. I've got about 12,000 miles on them plus ~500 miles of track, and they still pass inspection minimums. I'm not recommending them at all... they still squeal like a pig and don't have nearly enough lateral grip ... but not nearly as bad as anyone expected.

I'll probably end up keeping the RPF1s and selling the OEM set, they do look much better, and I'll still need a daily set since I don't plan on buying 2-3 sets of RS3s every year :p

About to update my thread with a fairly well established list of what is going to be done over the winter and into early spring. Nearly all stuff that was exposed as weak points on the track, broke, or just needs to be done anyway.

morning ya'll. well time for the msm to come off the road once again. :( looking forward to the day when i can drive her yr round and don;t have to be concerned with salt and sand! anyway, sport trac back on duty later today....glad to see gas prices come down a bit, the truck sure drinks more that the msm! day off tomorrow and monday, electrical work on the house full bore!

My MSM will remain on the road until at least November 17th. I set up a meet for that day, kinda as an extreme dig on the one local Mazdaspeed group that a lot of us don't really care for. It was more or less a "Screw you dipshits, I can make a meet bigger than anything you can do in the middle of bad weather" type thing. As of now, there are 88 confirmed and 35 maybes. It went from a dinner meet to an all out corral event. Whoops. Going to use it to raise money for an Ovarian Cancer group. At least it's going to be a great event for a great cause.

Morning all. Weather has cooled off quite bit today, high will be mid 60's and windy. A nice change from 90's and cooking my ass. Will wash the rig today and yesterday got part of the tow wiring done on the rig with the help of Miata guy i met online and then at the Texas Roundup. Will work on threading the main harness through the Miata to the rear tail lights.

Jacked up the MS6 over the weekend and changed out all the gear fluids and swapped on the snow tires. Transmission down a quart (out of 3) leaking from shifter input shaft. Transfer case down 1/2 a quart (out of about 1.5) leaking from seal. Rear diff down a little too leaking from the driver's side axle boot. That's after 35,000 miles since the last time I did them. I also noticed a little oil around the top of the engine. I guess nothing is bad enough that I have to rush and fix it...but the smell is getting to me. I found instructions on how to fix the transmission leak but the other two leaks seem like a bigger job and I have to decide whether I want to spend a weekend cursing at the car or just pay to fix it. Or leave it be and top them off until I can trade it in.

This was also the last season for my Pirelli Pzeros so in the spring I'll have to drop cash on summer rubber. Al in I'm looking at about $3k worth of work on an $8k car and that doesn't include the rust that's beginning to form.

But the car is paid for I assume. Insurance is cheaper than new. You seem to have no other issues?

Morning all. Got the trailer wiring threaded thru the firewall, passenger compartment, prht compartment and into the trunk. Will wire up the lights today. Also got the rig washed yesterday. Took me over an hour and 4 buckets of soap but she's cleaner. Need to tackle the bugs on the front of the rig and mirrors that have sacrificed themselves while in transit.
