NEMOC Random BS Thread

Still stinking hot here, mid 70's at nite??? Finally get some relief at the end of the week. Too hot and humid to do anything outside for long.

Spent all last week in San Francisco for business. 10hr days and eating out 3 meals a day, I'm glad to be back to my regular schedule. More importantly, I'm glad to be behind the wheel. We lucked out and had a nice Mercedes C250 as a rental but my boss was driving...and he is not a great driver, especially in traffic. I was pretty much car sick every morning. Nice car though. Never really saw myself as a Mercedes guy but after riding in one for a week I must say, they are very comfortable and quiet.

yeah, but who wants quiet :)

Civic decided to puke power steering fluid on the driveway yesterday. Can't tell if it's the line where it was modified, or at the rack or the pump. What I do know is that it's a fun, custom hose because it's for the engine swap. May be de-powering the rack... :-/

That sux, phen. Why de-power the rack though...a little duct tape and a BFH and you'll be good to go. haha

Daughter is back on the road. She asked mom if she could drive to the dance studio and then to Wegmans last night. :D Still waiting to get info. to get the ball rolling but my ins. guy is aware. Here's the damage.

You and me both Bruce.

Where you at? I'll buy a round trip ticket, fly down and send your butt back home to spend the cold winter days with Tam. :p

wouldn't it just be easier to get another hose made?

$55 from RockAuto. Once my paycheck deposits tonight, I'm placing the order.

My plan was to potentially de-power the rack if the car ever gets to the Honda Challenge level that I'm shooting for. At that point, it's going to be not street driven so I figured it'd be an ok time to do it.

Morning All. Off tomorrow for San Marcos TX for a Miata get together hosted by some Texas Miata groups. Should be fun as we get to do some lapping at the local race track.

Morning all!!

Jeff, Marlon volunteered as an instructor at a tire rack street survival last Sunday. Definitely a great idea for a new teen driver!! One kid's parents signed him up because he didn't want to drive. At the end of the day, he asked his dad if he could drive the 3 hours back home. Success!!

Bruce, what made you decide on tx this year? I looked on the map, you're not too far from where Marlon's mom grew up in cuero, tx. North of Victoria. He still has 3 uncles over there.

Happy Halloween all!!

Happy Halloween all!!

We are trying different southern states and areas, TX was next on the list. We maybe moving to Galveston next month as the beach combing is supposed to be better. Mary's main interest.

Happy Halloween!

Don't tempt me Bruce unless you have a spare bunk for a third wheel. haha Cool that you two are trying out different areas, def. envious of ya.

Lauri, that's cool! She isn't too crazy about it at the moment but I want her to take it so she can become familiar with the car's abilities in different situations.

Thoughts on a 2011 or 2012 CX-9? Towing capacity of 3,500lbs. Decent interior. Plenty of room for dogs. Gas mileage isn't great but neither is MS6 and I'd be filling up with regular instead.

I've been thinking about the CX-5 some more and even if I waited for the Diesel I'm 99% certain they'll only offer it in the states mated to an automatic. It only has a 2,000lb towing capacity anyway which is not really enough for my camper. I'd risk it with a manual transmission but automatics have a habit of catastrophic failure when over loaded.

I'm not really a SUV guy but I gave some thought to what I use my daily driver for. Driving to work twice a week. Shopping and occasional outings on weekends. Then there are longer trips I'd like to take with the camper that the REPU simply isn't ideal for. I'd like to visit my sis in Baltimore, my wife's friend in St Louis. Maybe check out Nova Scotia. I can't see crossing the country with the REPU. If something breaks that I can't fix myself I'd have to find a specialty shop to do the repair.

So maybe I should just suck it up and by a large SUV and deal with it. I still have the REPU when I want to tool around and drive stick.
