NEMOC Random BS Thread

is it friday afternoon yet?! :)

i tried replacing rear brakes on moms accord last night. there are some dumb philips screws which hold rotor to hub that i couldnt get out. was going to run out and get a nice drill bit to just take the head off but it started raining :(

Yeah, just drill those buggers out. That's what I did for Lauri's 6. After a little time in anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon line, those screws aren't coming out at all.

i got a few out easy last time i did a front brake job on that car, got the stuck one out with an ez out dealy. but these are on the rears and have been in for 12 new england years

Drilled the screws out on my MS6 on the first brake job...only took 2 winters for those suckers to seize. I swear they are just there to make things easy on the assembly line.

I now have a functioning defogger/defroster on the REPU. The 2" ducts I ordered from Autozone did the job nicely. They don't seal perfectly to the oval openings on the blower but they covered the opening enough for air to blow out the top. I also got new wiper blades installed and was able to pull the center portion out and swap them, thus keeping my original chrome housings. Aaaand then I installed the new choke cable. Unfortunately the wiring harness is different so I'm going to have to take it off and cut up the old switch and match all the wires up correctly. The new harness has 5 wires while the old one has only 4. I think (I hope) the 5th is just a ground.

Drove the truck to work today and the tach wasn't working...then it started working after I hit a bump. (scratch)

If anyone is in the Foxboro area tonight, meet me at Patriot Place for the cruise night!

TGIF!!! Oh wait...some of you have to work tomorrow. :p Came home to a nice surprise last night, the boy had mowed the front lawn and was anxious to get the back started but mower wouldn't start. Tam said she topped off the tank and checked the oil, which was low, so she added some but still wouldn't start. I went out and it started on the first pull?

Kyle, feel your pain. Ran into the same problem with my sis-in-laws Pilot. Got one out with a mini-sledge and impact screwdriver but the other one stripped and had to drill it out.

For those going to The Glen, have FUN!!!!

Hmmm... the Bavaria just magically fixed its headlight issue. To take it to The Glen or not... Hmmmm

Sweet I'm in!!:)
me too

bring it!

We will!!! You should be there.

Would be fun but have to work both Sat. and Sun. Their rule is that I'd have to find a replacement to cover my shift. I can do that but since there are only three of us and all three are scheduled to work, it's null and void. :/

Sounds like the fog light issue I had with the car a couple of days ago. Do it....stretch her legs out a bit.

Morning all. Drizzling rain right now, Man the weather sucks so far. Just washed the car last night.

Looking forward to the Glen, leaving from work at 2pm.

Yeah... I'm not liking the weather forecast at all. Oh well, it happens! I'm probably leaving work around 3 or so. Will meet up with the Sumlins along the way and see you guys at the apartment!

hey y'all.

i made it back this morning (stopped at gf's house last night on way back and slept over). drive took maybe 10-11 hours over all. this thing just sips gas!! i freaking love that. top down i averaged 35.27 highway and a/c on i did 33.34. i hope this trend continues for all driving of this thing.

ill get some pics and a "I finally did it" thread pretty soon. id like the sun to shine a little bit :)

Made it home from the Glen about 9pm last night. Great weekend as always Marlon. Lauri, Phen and Tom. Mark and Phen, that was a parade lap to remember.

How did the weather hold out for you guys? Post up some pics!!!

I spent most of Saturday and part of Sunday installing new springs in the REPU. I got a set of Ford Courier springs earlier this year that I couldn't get installed without cutting. The height was OK but I was rubbing the fenders when I turned. So I bought another set and after countless hours of swearing and several trips to home depot I got them in. Spring compressors were no use. I tried both types from Autozone but couldn't install the spring with them on. I finally picked up some long bolts from home depot and found the secret incantation to get them in.

1) Completely remove lower control arm, 2) put control arm on jack, and spring on control arm, 3) lift up and slightly compress spring enough to connect new long bolts on back of control arm, 3) Lower control arm, 4) Raise outside of control arm until ball joint will slide into place, 5) hammer the bejezuz out of ball joint until the holes line up and bolt it in place, 6) lower jack and raise it back up from rear portion of control arm 7) raise and lower and raise and lower until the rear of the control arm slides up the long bolts 8) Once in place, replace the long bolts with the original short bolts, 9) reinstall shock, sway bar links, and top bump stop that I removed to get more leverage, 10) repeat for the other side.

All said and done, the truck sits about 2" higher than it did before (I was hoping for only 1" but it looks fine). I increased the rear shock pressure from 30psi to about 80psi to match height. I've almost maxed out the front lift. It rests about 1/2" from the top bump stops.

How does it drive? Like a firm truck. There is virtually no body roll now. It feels so much better. And it doesn't rub anymore! I'll take some photos soon.
