NEMOC Random BS Thread

Just watched the trailer for Avatar. Looks pretty cool. My daughter wants to see it when she comes home. High Tech Fern Gully

Yup, father & daughter movie time here as well. We like all of the same movie genre. Although she likes horror a bit more than I. It's boring to me. I prefer a good drama/action/sci-fi flick.

Chico, you suck! lol....glad you are enjoying the sun.

I'm so glad I don't pay for heat at my new place. I am keeping my apartment nice and cozy this whole wintah.

Remember when computers that were not IBM were called "clones"? Dell, HP, etc. did not exist. We all had to build our own PC for the most part.

i've got a compaq 286/33 in the attic, thing could be a great boat anchor...took like 10 mins to boot, whoa!

hey, im actually looking to buy an suv typish thing. been looking around at everything and was wondering about how you like your nitro? i think you ended up getting that right? i cant remember....long amount of pages ago. what are your impressions? i have about 5 different cars on my to drive list and was trying to ask around for peoples knowledge on each one. i read a few not so good things about the nitro and feel sceptical about it.

i was also thinking jeep patriot, nissan pathfinder, jeep liberty, honda element, gmc envoy. its for the wifey because she wants 4x4 or awd.

I can be out in Worcester whenever :) went to armsby abbey, holy s*** that was a good bar! amazing beer selection in worcester.

melissa likes the armsby abby......they have a good lunch menu, too! right down the street from me!

technically you didn't pay for heat when your old place caught on fire.

Ooooooo burn! .......wait

Not me. That was the other Chris (chuyler).

my wife loves her tribute...we just drove 2600 miles and i must say, for a little four banger, it was plenty powerful and drove really well...AWD too! you can get the 6, but she wanted the extra MPG....it's your lower end vehicle, but you get your moneies worth for sure! don't think i'd do anything with jeep...ask josh too.

Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro are the same vehicle. Only difference is that the Jeep is "trail-rated" while the Dodge just looks cooler. The interior on the Dodge, specifically the R/T edition was much more eye catching. My wife really likes hers but we'll see how it fairs in the long run. So far so good. Factory remote starter works like a charm.

We drove the Patriot, felt like small minivan. Stay away from the CVT, it was the most lifeless thing I've ever driven.

I've driven a 5spd Element. Nice pickup for a 4-cyl, plus you get Honda reliability. However the doors can become a pain. Trying to get out of the back seat when you are parked in a parking lot with cars on either side is very difficult to do without smacking one or both of the suicide doors against someone else's car. Overall the interior is quirky and you either love it or hate it. Another strike for the back seat is that adult passengers cannot see out the front window which can make them car sick.

GMC envoy is made by GM. No more advise necessary.

Can't speak about the Pathfinder, never even sat in one.

Oh snap! I had a 286 as well, combined with the green monochrome monitor it was awesome! Text based games FTW!

You approach a boat landing. The pirate is on the boat. What will you do?
- turn left
The pirate yields a sword.
- fight
Pirate slashes your neck. You are dead.

Out of those choices I'd say either Pathfinder or Element. After owning a Jeep Liberty Limited for 2 years I can honestly say it sucks. Reliability was ok, but gas mileage and comfort was the worse part. For everyday driving AWD would be better in terms of safety.

The new Liberty is totally different now Josh. The Patriot is probably a closer match size-wise but the handling and road feel of the Jeep remains. Bouncy, stiff suspension and relatively numb steering feel. Turn the wheel more than a half-turn and it will stay there even if you let go of the wheel and hit the gas.

Morning all. Oncall this weekend so not really going anywhere. Getting the Xmas tree today. Finish the trim for the floor in the basement.

Looks like the Focus won't be ready till Tuesday or Wednesday. Been in paint but waiting for parts. Will drop by the bodyshop today and see if I can get a look.

as much as I want to hate the element, I can't.

It is a weird quirky little thing, but it is a really nice car and it rides very well.

Is that something like:

"You have died of dysentery"

I found it! The first text based game I played on my Commodore VIC 20. Loved this game though I never got a chance to finish it.

Haha yea I had a 286 with the green monochrome monitor. Then came the compaq 486/66. Was on that for a whileeeeee missed all the pentium 90mhz and ended with a 333mhz. Also had a commodore 64, thing was great even after the computer side of it stopped working, it had composite video inputs in it so used it through all the nintendo/playstations I had.
