NEMOC Random BS Thread

I like this 'lifetime' thing. Pay once and done.

mmm I like it as well, even though its close to $200 now, but cash is a little tight at the moment and more importantly I'd rather it get done right instead of just "good enough'd" which I've run into before when your not familiar with the mechanic.

I trust that James will tear into anyone who half-a***es my car (though he might make an exception considering how much of a pain in the behind it is)

That's old news. ;) Wish I could help ya bro.

the update was more meant more to advertise the fact that I got the endlinks on regardless of how difficult it was (about 6 hours of difficulty to be exact)

if you put out a mazda 6 for 60k, no one would buy it....if you put that concept out, as it looks in the concept...and it had an interior to match the exterior with all the bells and whistles that one expects in a 60k car, it would sell. why wouldnt it? Hyundai is doing it and mazda is a much more respected name than that, not to mention the hyundai looks like a lexus, not like an exotic (like that concept). Its got to have a well performing powerplant to go with it and the mazda fun-to-driveness too.

I dont know enough to say why the FD died, but I suspect it had more to do with the world's reluctance to adopt the rotary engine (or its tendency to blow the apex seals every 60k) than it did with the mazda badge. Does that mean the supra died because no one would pay that kind of coin for a toyota (look at lexus...specifically the lfa and the is-f come to mind)? although maybe that IS why those cars died and toyota brought the big dollar cars back under the lexus name....(but then again toyota sells landcruisers for 70k+)

60k is the new 30k. I just loaded up a CX-9 and got an MSRP of 41,910....60k for a car that looks like the shanari concept (as opposed to a sporty minivan thing) and has performance and features to match that look..doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

The time when those cars were out there, 300Z included, the price was way outside of a logical price point. They did essentially price themselves out to die in the states. Hell, I think one of the TT Supras was close to 50 grand in 1996.

Of course, yes there were other factors too.
Emission regulations (the reason the Supra TT came only with the automatic in 96)
But they just didn't sell many. Only a handful over 13,000 FD's were sold in 3 years in North America

So... I bought a bottle of liquor here in Beijing today. Mongolia King winery's ... umm... finest? I dunno. s*** was dirt cheap. I don't exactly know what to call it, but it's not bad. Cost me 46.80 RMB.

Now... go find the exchange rate for Chinese RMB, come back and give me your reaction for a bottle of 38% ABV liquor that came in a porcelain bottle...

It's too early for a math question.....

Safe travels Bruce!
I'm embarrassed to say, but I have never been to Canada. It's on my 'to do list' at some point.

Try it, you will like it.

Morning All

Great trip so far. Went into Ottawa yesterday and looked at some rentals. Very nice and clean. Also went to the Parliament buildings, never had been before. Big change from Washington DC, where security was everywhere and you were not allowed to breathe. You could walk right up to the building and people were polite.

Back to Ottawa today and then home tomorrow.
