NEMOC Random BS Thread

I hate rubber neckers. You can glance over and get an idea of what happened but why do you have to slam on your brakes so you can stare?

Maybe it's just me most Prius drivers I've seen on the road are crazy. I've seen them weaving thru three lanes of traffic...passing in the slow lane doing 80+. I would have thought they'd be the ones cruising under the speed limit to get even better mileage from their 'green' car?

funny you say that. my brother bought a prius before he moved to CA and i drove there with him. i was in CO and was flying 90 down the highway. a cop pulled me over and basically said theres no way im getting out of the ticket. so i told him "do you even know how long it took me to get to 90 in a prius?!" lol. needless to say, ticket.

The prius doesn't get great mileage at 80mph, no car does. R&T had an interesting article this month comparing the Prius to a Golf TDI and new Ford Fiesta. Even while doing canyon runs the Prius came out on top with the best mileage. So I guess if you are going to drive like an asshole anyway, you might as well save some gas doing it. Of course your savings go out the window when you strand your lame-ass ride in the middle of the highway median.

That guy made 1,000s of people late for dinner, caused the state 1,000s of dollars to pull the car out, and wasted the time of several on duty troopers...yet he probably will get a $100 fine and be driving a rental car tomorrow.

... 55 feels unbearably slow on any 3-lane highway.

Oh yeah it does... There are lots of 55 MPH sections through Hartford and even down to 45. Same around Waterbury on 84. I'm either cruising or crawling at 5-10..

Anyone else think the iPad is a horrible name? Sounds like a feminine hygiene product. ;) Basically an iPod touch on roids.

While Apple makes some innovative products, I think Steve Jobs needs to hire a new person to name their products.

iPad = nvm..... not going to go there.

Afternoon all,

Woke up a few hours ago. Working nights for a month straight is slowly wearing me down. Thankfully it's the last week I'll have to do it. Oh yeah, and just to kick me while I'm down I gotta work this weekend. yaaaaaaaay.

What's all this jibber-jabber I'm seeing about 55mph? I do 55mph on unpainted side streets.

And to back up what Jenn said, most of the highways that run in and around Hartford (I-84, I-91, I-384, I-291, Route 2, Route 9, etc) have areas that drop to a 55mph speed limit. ...Nobody cares. If it's a highway everyone's doing at least 65mph, and I'm doing 80.

Edit: My new avatar is pure win.

As for the iPad. Don't most people in Boston already have one of those? Oh, nevermind, that's an iPahd.

It will be interesting to see how it does. I've already read several articles about how it will be hard for the device to take over the Kindle market given its short battery life and back-lit screen which will be difficult to read in certain lighting. I don't think it will be a revolution like the iPod or the iPhone.
