NEMOC Random BS Thread

Good morning everyone.
Speaking of Condos I hate condos and especially apartments. Condos or townhouses you always share a side of your unit with somebody else.
Sometimes your floor is somebody else ceiling and your ceiling is somebody else floor. Not everybody is a considerate person and think about everybody else.
Always there is a Jerk.
And I have to have my area for me to tinker with my cars.
Is true right now I have leaves up to my knees but I'll get around it.
That's my 2 cents.

(hear ya)so chris, the next wrenching meet isn't in your parking lot? ;) we do need to get together though for some "tunes" someday!!!

i have an apt...with no one above me, and a full driveway to work on :)

too bad it's dirt, the drugdealing neighbors all turn into my audience and i don't have a jack, etc. I usually end up going to my friend's house where my car can fit in his garage, unlike his car.

oh...anyone have an apt in the area? I'm so ready to move.

Hello All.

Finally Friday suppose to leave at 3:00 today and they put a meeting for 2:30 PM in my agenda. And I was just thinking about this (drinks)

Very true, but if the units are constructed properly, you won't here very much. What I have heard before...
1) Garbage disposal
2) Washing Machine that was out of balance...my neighbor has since replaced it.
3) Music during the summer if windows are open (they usually aren't because everyone except us runs the central air 24/7).

Nah, we'll have to stick to your place for wrenching meets. Speaking of which, my rotors should finally arrive on Monday. I need to get them installed soon because my rear pads are turning to dust. Turns out Rotora never received the purchase request. I had to call again and the guy at RPM tracked them down and placed the order again for me. He should have done that the first time I called...but whatever, I'll have them soon enough.

I've got to find a weekend where we can have everyone over again...maybe watch some Patriots too...if Belichick doesn't throw the game away in the last minute.

i'm off to NC and KY tomorrow, i'll be back on the 29th....if you wanna do the following sat, 12/5...let me know!

Have a safe and fun trip Mark and if you should pass through the Easton area on I78 beep for me. :D

First road trip for the Tribute, eh?

Jenn, I have to agree with Luke. Never been a fan of Condo's. Your still renting, subject to their conditions and leavees.

Any reason you can't consider a house?

the only thing with the house is the up keep, especially the yard and exterior maintenance....some people just don't want anything to do with it, or don't have the time...

Bruce... See Mahk's response. That's exactly why. Kyle will be moving with me for the time being but is still looking for a house. He strongly prefers a house but I can't see getting one on my own if he's going to move out... I'd need help (or I'm telling myself I'd need help..)

I'm in an apt right now which is an end unit townhouse with a garage. I've worked on my cars and washed my cars several times with no complaints. Some kid who lives in the next building over has used an impact wrench before... I'm guessing no one has complained.. although I have complained about him and his friends missing a football pass and the ball hitting Kyle's car square on the hood. OOHHHH was I livid.

where is the condo Jen? Farmington?

The condo is in Simsbury.. but the Tariffville section of it. Riiiiight next to the Tariffville School.

The complex has 120 units and it's managed by a company out of East Hartford. I know that to install a pellet stove, I'd have to get it approved by the condo board because it affects the exterior of the building..
I'm allowed to wash my car which makes me think it's okay to work on my car since I can pull it in the garage.
I keep my heat set at 64 degrees right now so I'm wondering how cold I'll feel with a heat pump at that temp...
I probably won't be using the A/C much during the summer because I like to save.. the only reason I put in a window unit in my current place is because of Lucy.. she can't get hot. The condo has a basement that will more than likely stay cool enough in the summer without A/C to be alright for her.. therefore the windows will be open.
In my place right now I hear the garbage disposal occasionally and if it's really quiet, the cupboards closing. I know that one neighbor at the condo is older.. and I can't tell if it's a couple or just a woman.. she parks in front of the garage though, not in it.. weird.

I went and saw the place for the third time today... Talked for a long time with my realtor. Got the low down on the offer and closing processes. I'll probably be putting an offer in next week...

Thanks for all the input guys!!! I really appreciate it!!

condo FTW jenn, unless you really want to be doing yard work.

I am a "house person" ultimately, but right now I cannot deny the convenience of condo living. The guy I carpool to work with has a house with the wife and kids and all that jazz, and you should see the look on his face in the summer when he drops me off after work and my lawn was freshly manicured while I was at work. Or in the winter when he has to get up an hour early to shovel the driveway and sidewalk and I roll out of bed at the same ole time and let the snow magically disappear.

My building got new siding a couple years ago and all I did was continue to pay my condo fees. Its a pretty good deal if you ask me.

You are only a quarter century old, you have better things to do with your time than yardwork dont ya? In 5-10 yrs when you're married to a guy who can do the yard work, move on up to a house :)

Yup, I'm one of those guys that likes to work on my house landscape. Is it spring time yet?

Some pics from this morning.
