Some good news folks. It looks like I'll be in the CT area (near where I used to live) for work. Preliminary schedule is the end of October until Mid-November.

Sigh wish I was there.

Did a full work week, man was i bushed. Nodded off a few times on thursday nite and went to bed early last night.

Off to Kingston to get the mattress replaced under warranty. Blasted screen door latch broke again, replaced the last one under warranty in March. Warranty is over now. Will see if I can get in replaced again.

Oleg, are you just swapping the turbo bits??

Morning all. Great weekend weather wise. Was working on the Focus yesterday. Brakes lights were always on and the 3rd brake light was not working. Checked the switch at the pedal, seemed fine. Did a quick lookup on Focus Finatics and it seems that the 3rd brake wire on the hatch was broken. I had repaired this a few years ago and checked it again. It was busted. Repaired and soldered the connection and brake lights were working again.

Took it out for a drive and checked the cruise, it wasn't working since last year. And voila the cruise works. Since the brake lights were always on the cruise wouldn't engage.

Finally got fed up with WiFi at the RV park, up and down and no throughput on the weekends and very slow during the week. Got a data plan and device and voila, speedy access. Device was 200 and the plan is 5G for 40 bucks, better than the states which I was surprised. Plan is month by month so no long term commitment.

I was over Oleg's for a bit yesterday. I told him to put the head on the current engine and check the compression. If it was good, then he should just swap over the turbo bits. We got as far as getting the head cleaned and back in place before I had to leave (I didn't have a lot of time).

Hmmm, I must have missed something, what did Oleg do the original motor?? This is the Blue P5 right?

Oleg blew the head gasket in the blue P5. His original plan was to just swap over Mark's motor, but since he had the blue engine apart already I told him to just install the gasket and check the compression. That way he just has to switch over intake/exhaust and other bits rather than pull both motors.

I'd also get a good straight-edge to check that the head's straight.

We did. It looked pretty good. No visible warping. We used a straight edge and feeler guage.

mornin, off to fl to get mom...last trip for me bringing her back. she bought another cah so she'll have one here and on in fl...now she'll fly back and forth. the drive was getting old for her. looks like move day is the 23rd! finally! it's been just about a year since the build started (like my turbo install wknd!) everything is happiningg all at once now, kitchen cabinets, counter tops, tile in the bath, bath vanity. i'll be finishing up the door trim and baseboard tonight.

So I put my motor back together last night. Cold compression reading was 185-155-190-190. Put in some oil into cyl 2 and it read 190. Cold readings on Mahk's motor were 200-195-195-205. So yeah, Mark's motor it is!

Pulling Mark's motor tonight.
