NEMOC Random BS Thread

No, hardly a salesman :) I've just got all the stock turbo stuff up for sale, and selling local means less headaches. The MSM has been wheels off on jacks for 3-4 weeks now, after largely being ignored since December due to all the snow. 60k maintenance stuff, decided to pull the turbo to fix a broken stud, and talked myself into upgrading instead of re-installing. FM2 gets here Friday, and I start installing that this weekend.

Ah, haven't looked in your thread lately. Thought you had it back together but see I was wrong. And I can guarantee that all of us have been at that point where we talked ourselves into upgrading. ;)

Washed the car finally, covered in pollen and dirt. Nice park in Myrtle Beach.

Hey, meant to ask you, where are you staying at MB? For the past several years we've stayed at the Crown Reef down at the South end of the strip.

morn all, looks like another snow storm tonight/tomorrow...cape to get whacked...6" here :( only good thing is it's in the 50's sat!

We went from an expected snow storm with a high of 29 today to it might rain with a high of 45. Tomorrow is a high of 37, but then it's all upwards to where it should be: 57, 59, 64, 67, 70, 72, 69. Spring is finally showing up... a month late.

^^^yup. I met up with bruce and mary friday night down in savannah, ga. Thanks again for dinner! You two heading out for mb tomorrow, right?

The reason i was down south? Bought a 2003 miata down in melbourne, fl and flew down friday morning to pick her up. :d

Place called Lakewood RV park. It in between 2 others, Ocean Lakes and PirateLand. They are all large RV parks, with permanent mobile parks as well.

We are on a small lake within walking distance to the beach. Very pretty and lots of wildlife. Cormorants, geese, ducks, turtles, carp, muskrat. Most are very tame and used to people I guess.

I checked into how much mileage with the RV I've done, 3,801 miles so far with close to 5,000 by the time I return home. Roughly 714 gals of gas.

Also had this note from Oleg

222,934 miles and she's running well, engine-wise, but not driven too much anymore, so brakes/calipers periodically act up.
It's getting end-of-lifed this summer.

Little sad but impressed she made it that far with Oleg at the helm.

Hey, need to clean the engine, getting ready for MAMB VIII. What do you guys use and how? Simple green? Any special tricks?

Thanks

Cool! Just mapped it and you are just South of where we stay. If you go up 17N you would make a right at Jurassic Golf and the hotel would be on your right at the beach. Next to it is Damons Steakhouse, they've got good food and you can sit outside on the deck and eat while watching the ocean. A little further up business17 on the right hand side is Angelos. They've got an all you can eat Italian buffet that is good and I think $12 now before 4/5pm along with one of the best steaks I've had. I'd recommend The Farmhouse but they are only open Jun, Jul and Aug. Yikes....how many mpgs? Not a bad little winter vaca though!

Damn, she's still on the road. We were just talking about her too, will be sad to see her go.

I've never cleaned the bay but know Mahk has extensive experience. :p I've heard Simple Green is good to use, maybe some youtube vids out there? Be sure to take lots of pics!

Oleg and I cross country skied up to the mid-mountain lodge at Bretton Woods last weekend, had a few beers, then made our way back down. I've skied down Bretton woods numerous times on DH skis but on skinny XC skis with plastic edges after a few beers was quite a feat! We had a blast!

Nice Pic, you must have long arms for that selfie.

noticed in the news that excessive speed killed Paul Walker and his friend. Was interested with all the "issues" with the car that were not a result of the crash. 11 year old tires are not a contributing factor??

I see NE coast is getting hammered again especially the cape??

I'm not too surprised by that finding. Low production hypercar with expensive tires and probably gets driven once a month for 10 miles... tires probably had plenty of life left, but dry rotted to hell and back.

CNN says 9 year old tires. http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/25/showbiz/paul-walker-crash-probe/

Phen is right, for a show car with very expensive tires it doesn't surprise me that they were that old. A blowout could easily explain the crash. So couldn't hitting a manhole cover or pothole at that speed, or possibly avoiding another vehicle pulling out of a driveway. Whatever it was, its something that could have been avoided by keeping triple-digit driving to roads that are designed to handle it...you know, like the race track or the autobahn.

I'd have to imagine that the tires were a contributing factor in the crash. Anyone else see the trailer for Brick Mansions? I think it looks pretty good, includes a great cover of "Stand By Me" and had no idea that he had even worked on it before FF7.
