NEMOC Random BS Thread

Morning! Quite a crazy one so far but loving it!

Yep and I've come across a couple of decent sunbursts on miata.net but manuals.

Ya, I know.....never learned to drive a manual so my search has been limited to autos. Have an oppurtunity to learn though, guy from miata.net who lives about 30 minutes from me said he'd be willing to teach me in his 1990 Miata. :)

Also finding out that the auto paired with the 1.6 really cuts down on the 'fun factor'. So if I do stick with an auto guess I'll have to stick to searching for a 94 and up.

Hmmmmm, do those links now take you to buy tix? Last time I clicked both they redirected me to the flyer on photobucket.

Try tnis one

Morning all

Anniversary today, 32 years with my 1st wife.

Sweet and congrats to you both! Gotta give her A LOT of credit!!!! ;)

come on jeff, you know not to let the transmission limit you from your car purchase! (even though ill only buy manuals so im even more limited). go learn! youre a smart guy :D

congratulations bruce! i like the first wife comment in there

Yep, I'll be learning soon. So many more options in the Miata market will open up!

All you need is a 1 hour session with someone and the rest you will figure out driving solo on back roads. That's all I had. I taught my wife and she was super nervous about it until she just went out on her own and practiced starting in 1st gear over and over again. Or you can read my handy-dandy tutorial...

Yeah, I figure it won't take too long to really learn the basics, from there it will just be practice, practice and practice. My biggest fears are stalling and driving in heavy traffic which leads back to stalling.

Nice write-up, I looked over some of it earlier and will refer back to it.

Thank You Marlon!!!!! Just ordered the tix. :D Was going to order them direct from the site before but wasn't sure if there was something special via the link Lauri had posted. How is she doing anyway?

Oh look....

So I will be in Albany, NY area for the two weeks prior to the race. My boss allowed me to change my flight from Friday to Sunday and take Friday off. So instead of missing the race, I am going to be there Thursday after work.

There are only a few catches: 1. I'm responsible for all my food. 2. I have to turn in the company rental car on Thursday and get my own. 3. I have to find my own place to live until Sunday (already done!)

Now it gets fun... I fly back to Atlanta on Sunday, sign some paperwork on Monday, leave Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning for work. (woowoo)

Great to see you are coming Chris. Looking forward to seeing you.

Had a fun day autoxing yesterday. little on the hot side but a blast. 1 more left for me for the season. I will miss the last one due to lime rock.

You know I wouldn't miss LRP for anything.

My boss is a car guy and understands my passion for this race. I am short cycling myself on weekends off vs travel time, but it is worth it.

So is anyone else planning on coming to Petit this year? It is just like LRP as it is the last race of the ALMS... Ever.

id love to come down and see alms again but i get so off put by just thinking of having to drive back through the traffic of NJ, VA, MD, NY :(

So how was everyone's Holiday weekend? I worked weddings on Sat and Sun and since it rained yesterday, I helped the wife out by carrying her Halloween decoration totes upstairs. It will soon be time to get the outdoor decorations out of the attic. :)

Awesome Chris! And look what the wifey just sent me a pic of... :D

well RE11A's just got a $70 rebate on them so im looking into getting them and my rpf1's. just trying to figure if id buy from tirerack or townfair. need to compare pricing on both places and work some other things out. also need to figure if NOW is best or wait til they maybe go on sale again between now and spring time

ha ha ha guys. :p

How long is that rebate good for Kyle and what about discount tire direct? Also, I was *this close* to joining you in the SBY club. Found one near Philly on Friday on CL for $3500 with 87K. On Sat. it was posted for $3200 and on Sunday it was posted for $2900. Found out through m.net that it sold on Sunday. Def. needed a new top though and front bumper was badly faded. My search goes on....

Scheduled to meet up with the local guy from m.net tomorrow night for some lessons on driving a manual. (drive2)

wow, i wonder what condition the underside was in for that money since everyone says i did real well at $4k for mine at 87k miles with zero rust!

rebate is good til end of month. discount tire doesnt sell rpf1 so cant do them.

i went to town fair. found out they will be anyones price by 5% and will honor the rebate. WHICH MEANS.

tirerack package is at $1216. which will then put town fair at $1155. then with tax im at $1229 and i still get the rebate offer and front end alignment and lifetime flat repair, and new lugs/locks. still a lot to consider as its still a bunch of money

Not really sure about the underside. Ad only stated that it was summer driven and garaged over his 4yrs of ownership so only a first hand look would determine the 'truth'.

A lot of scratch for sure but if you decide to do it, that's not a bad deal given all the extra services for another $13! Should see if they'll throw in a 'lifetime alignment' to sweeten the deal. ;)
