NEMOC Random BS Thread

Nice Byakuya, I'll do my best to make it. Do you need deposits from people?

Nah you're good. We've made the deposit already so everyone else is pay-at-the-gate.

I'll be sending out reminder emails to people who owe money, and how much that they owe. We've still got plenty of time for this, but i want to make sure everything is accounted for ahead of time.

Also, I updated the meet thread because I was being asked about a few things. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123820545-The-Great-Mazda-Mountain-Climb&highlight=

Sup ppl ... so visited local vw dealer since CEL came on .. end up paying almost 200$ , most of it for taking off CEL due to gas cap not being properly closed, go figure its not part of warranty, and they wonder why I don't go there for maintenance service ...

The mounting run sounds interesting ... might show up for that

dude, get a code reader....you could of bought a nice scan guage for $200...stupid dealers!

morning all!

It's a VW, what did you expect? They practically invented the CEL.

they also invented the electrical gremlin that causes the CEL light to either malfunction or burn out, not letting you know of impending doom :P

lot's of vdub bashing this am?

Being a current owner of one that, had I not had the tools and capability to do most of the work myself, would probably have bankrupt me by now, I think I've earned the right to bash VWs from time to time. German engineering my ass. Same people who thought a manual turret on a Panzer would be a good idea. Big surprise when the more maneuverable (but far inferior in every other way) were able to consistently get behind them and pick them apart. *sigh*

Morning everyone!

And good to see that VW bashing is still alive. lol I'll never buy another...I don't care how good they claim to be. Tony, if you should get another CEL stop at AZ and get it read for free and go from there.

Sorry to hear those temps dropped under 80 Bruce. :p Snow forecasted here with temps dipping into the 20's. While I miss the pay of working on a loading dock these are the nights I don't miss working in this weather!

Morning y'all!

Loving my LSD still! Built a new sub box with chuyler1, strapped it down with some bungee cords and it seems to be staying in place.

Great news is that the Miata seems to be OK. Valve clearances were OK, except one intake valve on cyl 1 was just a hair under spec (which wouldn't cause a tapping noise). I put the valve cover back on, with a new valve cover gasket, and it still ticked. Changed the oil and put in 1qt of M1 15W-50 and 3.5 qts of M1 Extended Perf 5W-30 and bam ticking/knocking went away right away. Ran the car Monday during the nice weather and it was great! So phew! Hopefully that's the end of that. Not sure what happened to the old oil.

I must have missed something?? Why are you running 15W50?? Isn't that too thick??

People (including me) add Lucas to their oil, and that s*** is much thicker than 15W50! Civic used to get 20W50 on the old engine...

I guess but unless you are racing, thick oil is not for the street, unless your engine is very old and using oil.

Still not getting why Oleg is using such thick oil. Most engine wear occurs on startup. Thick oil would not help but make it worse, never mind fuel mileage.

Civic was using oil like mad at that time. 170k of hard driven miles will do that, I guess.
