NEEWB MSP turbo help!

I picked up my car in late May 03 and wanted to take it back almost immediately due to the non-flashed driveability issues. Mazda released the flash back in Oct 03 and that is when mine was done. I was satisified with the results of the flash.

The reflash is not 100% perfect but it makes a tremendous difference imo. There are times when the hesitation will pop up but its nowhere near as frequent or severe as being unflashed.

ok thanks for clarifying that. do you think that since the flash was 7 years ago would it still have the same effects to this date?

another thing is that even tho i will get the flash will i still have hesitation with my stock smic? hey BOOSTR did you have the stock smic when you got the flash? because i heard that those badboys headsoak pretty bad and thats another cause for the lag? please let me know, because i dont have enough money for a fmic so if its gonna continue with the lag i might as well not flash it and be disappointed. (headshake)

Yes I had the stock smic when flashed. I didn't ditch it until 05 when I picked up a CustomMSP smic.

Just out of curiosity have you pulled the sparkplugs to check the condition and gap?

i will be doing a tune up today, i also had a question about that, im not sure how long ago the plugs were changed and also the oil. what kind of oil would you recommend? and how many quarts does it use, as well as what kind of spark plugs? thanks im such a newb at this hah ohhh and im not sure what kind of gas the previous owner was putting in it but yesterday i filled it with premium,

Get some NGK plugs. Gap specs are 0.028 - 0.031. I use V powers stock no. 4291. Pick up a new PCV also. And check the air filter and replace it if needed.

Oil capacity is 3.5 qts. Synthetic 10W30 is what I have always used.

do you guys recommend and brand from pepboys as far as spark plugs go? im on a low budget and i just want a decent tune up, just oil change, filter, and plugs but dont have much money, what should i get

then shop around.

I'm running someone else's equivalent (NO idea who's.. don't care) of them in my car now, and I'll be switching back to the NGKs next change.

sure.

you can go with copper (burn up fast) or platnium (burn a little longer, but don't seem to get along with our cars as well).

DO NOT GET IRIDIUM.

Also, be sure you gap them between .028-.032"

The factory .044 gap will run like dog s*** after about a week.

you can get a gap tool from autozone for like a buck or something like that. It's just a matter of tapping on the plug until the gap is within the specifed range with the gap tool.
