NEEWB MSP turbo help!

so i should go with copper then, and how to i exactly gap them?

its your call. I did.

if you don't know how to gap them, ask a parts guy for a spark plug gapping tool, and ask him for help using it. He should be able to talk you through it. I'm not gonna try to explain it via text.

Any auto parts store in your area should have the NGK V Power (4291) or Laser Platinums (3271) oem plug. I like the coppers for the hotter spark and don't care one bit about the shorter change interval since they cost $1.99 compared to $16 for the others. And tap them gently on a block of wood and you won't have any issues. Don't put anything other than an NGK or Denso plug in your MSP. 0.032 is out of the gap range. See page 5 of the MSP addendum if need be.

ok great so since factory they are .044 i will have to close the gap to about .031 max right which set up would u recoment? .028 or .031?

0.030 for me. Its a good idea to read your plugs to see how things are doing in there. Get some anti-sieze for the plug threads a dialetic grease for the boots. Make sure the engine is cool and don't gorilla seat the plugs.

ok cool so when i remove the old ones what do i look for? do u think this probably is a factor for the hesitation too?

ok i got the ngk v powers and they gaped them to .030 at the store for me. and got some castrol 10w30 synthetic oil and a filter. should be good to tune up today! anything im forgetting? my air filter is fine, oh yeah i need some anti seize, would you guys recommend i do seafoam? or is that bad for the turbo? thanks

My car had hesitation after I put brand new coils, wires, and NGK ZFR6F-11 plugs and it turns out I forgot to gap them. Now all of them are gapped at .030 and the car runs great.
As for seafoam I know the MSPs run rich and could benefit from a cleaning but I would be careful using it because it killed the O2 sensor in my old P5.

A new pcv. Seafoam has never hurt anything I put it in including my MSP. I use it to top clean and put in the tank.

It may not ruin everyone's car but my CEL came on immediately after seafoaming because my O2 sensor wasn't working properly anymore, and in my truck I had before my P5 the O2 sensor went out a couple days after. Maybe just unplug it or pull it out to be safe?

so lately ive noticed my driving and found out that when ever i ease in to the throttle the car boosts perfectly but i have to do it slowly in order to maintain it, whenever i floor the gas it hesitates, is it because the motor is moving faster than the turbo due to the bad stock tune from mazda? will the reflash help with the fuel management and throttle response? i will be trying out the reflash in 2 days.

essentially, yes, the tune isn't catching the change in conditions fast enough. the flash may help a bit, but its not a complete solution.

That could be a bad tune, the ECU is just dumping fuel at WOT so you're running pig rich. My car has a sticker on the underside of the hood saying it has been reflashed by a dealer and it has numbers written on it, check for one of those.

MSP responds better when you don't mash the gas. My car is flashed and I have no sticker and I am the original owner. Some do and some don't.

oh ok well icalled the dealer and gave them my vin number and they said they had no history on the reflash for my car so they would check it out there. but i mean easint into the gas is what you have to do for most turbo cars? what if i want to downshift quick to like pass a car or avoid something on the road?
