NEEWB MSP turbo help!

I have the same friggen problem and its seriously driving me banannas!!! Some how I really doubt that a tune up will help... How can a tune up be needed if there is no mis at idle or start up? think about it.

Anyway during cold start up the car will pull and run fine and boost fine. After like 3 minutes of driving and the car is warmed when accelerating it feels like its pulling timing imensely. You can actually hear the turbo spooling up harder and theres like NO power. If you feather the throttle to the point of just before boost it will actually accelerate better then if you start to boost. As the engine gets up to normal operating range the worse the problem gets. I have taken it to a tuner shop (owned by my buddy who does custom fabrication for toyotas, nissan, etc NST), its been to a turbo shop with no luck either. It doesn't appear to have a boost leak. I've gotten the p2006 and p0660 codes intermittantly So i don't believe these are the problems. I have even disconected VICS and VITS and drove around to see if it helps and it sure does NOT. The problem keeps re-occuring.

It has not been to do the dealer to have the ECU flashed nor do I think its absouletly necessary as of right now. I took the plugs out and sure enough they were filthy with soot = pig rich. They did appear to be irridium if it makes a difference. I will throw in some ngk coppers just to see what it does.

We're leaning toward a bad knock sensor or MAF at this point. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Up until now I have been reluctant to post because "I'm too good and I can figure it out" mentality...

dont worry about it im pretty sure that about 75% of msp owners have this exact same problem! ive heard that the stock SMIC heatsoaks pretty bad and that might be one of the factors as well as needing a reflash or a piggyback such as the unichip and whatnot. im not sure on what to do, i will be doing a reflash most likely tomorrow since its payday hah i will see how that goes

Its not heat soak. If this is your first boosted car then you need drive other cars that are heat soaked. heat soaked TAPERS off power its not like you hit a brick wall in the MSP.

Its a sensor issue... something is causing it to come on, what its doing is retarding timing severly thats why you feel what you feel either that or its leaning out one of the two.

just like a anti lag system builds boost by retarding timing its doing the same thing while driving lol
Damn near the same thing because when you hit the loud pedal your car goes no where just makes a bunch of PSHHHHHHHH noise

I'm really curious as to what you're basing much of anything in this post on...

expierence.

I'm trying to gather information that will negate an answer as a whole and for the community here. Its a known issue and NO ONE knows what to do about it.

I see that you're the moderator. I'm glad that you are here.

It seems A lot of members are rolling around with wideband 02 sensors and are not noticing lean conditions? Which we can sort of rule out a fuel issue espcially if its stock boost, turbo, etc...

It's basic tuning 101...

Drive a car with the distributor clocked on full retard. Then drive it at 10deg BTDC like you do with most. There is a HUGE difference. THe restriction thats created by retarding timing is the same restriction that is happening in the MSP.

Its all I/O. Sensor gathers MISinformation sends it to ecu the output of the ECU is hesitation in form of something(I really think its timing, I want to test it too but I need a super expensive scanner)

I'll take a video of what my car is doing. I know its a SEVERE hesistation issue and not a normal"ECU reflasH" kind of hesistation

I guess I'm lost. Distributor? Whats that!? LOL

and what condition exactly do you believe no one knows about?

These cars have now been played with for 8 years, I dare say there isn't really anything new left to learn about them.

Everyone that KNOWS these cars from the EXPERIENCE of having one for a long time knows that it's not heatsoak or anything you will resolve with some magical sensor adjustment/replacement or by keeping an unflashed & and non-ems accompanied MSP.

Don't try and reinvent the wheel here. Its a simple solution. Don't get flashed, buy the ems of your choice and tune it away OR get flashed and enjoy better driveability assuming that there is nothing else wrong with your MSP.

I'm done with this thread.
