Need some help please with Protege 5

what is the exact name of the tube because i cant find just the tube any where.

The parts catalog lists it as "hose,air" but if you ask any Mazda dealer for the tube between the mass airflow sensor and the throttle body they'll know what you're talking about.

If not, this is the part number they need to order: fp47-13-220a

Edit: The hose clamps are fp47-13-735 (the one for the MAF) and b6ck-13-735 (the one for the TB).

Where are you located? You should be able to find someone local who has replaced their stock intake with either a short ram or cold air one and still has their original one kicking around.

Yep, just had this problem myself - did duct tape for a day of driving straight to get a stock replacement (found it on this forum for $10), someone sent me a link for a cold air intake for $33 that he put on his car if you'd like it too:

I had the dreaded P0171 code and the car was hesitating from a stop. Turned out to be the air hose. Like others, there was a rip in the soft rubber accordian area. It was almost ripped in half by the time I got it removed. $60 from the dealer in AZ. Code is cleared and runnin smooth. (wiggle)

Had my engine light come on code p0455 vacuum leak came up, mechanic said it was the gas cap, cleaning the "build up" under the cap would solve my problem. he cleared the code I cleaned under the cap, 1 week later CEL back on. I'm going to check the intake hose for cracks. went through 6 EGR valves since 2002 finally replaced with #7 the redesigned Cdn model, also replaced plugs but not wires, car ran fine after new egr
