I need more powerrrr captain.....to be more exact....does anyone know how to wire up the car to leave power to the windows and accesories when the car gets turned off? just for a little while? I have this feature on one of my other cars and this is a great feature to have.

My friends Eclipse does that. I'm so jealous! Plus it's like a 96!! I hate having to sit there with my engine running while rolling up windows. I never thought about ADDING this feature to a car, but it is quite possible. With my extremely basic knowledge of electronics, I would just add a capacitor on the live wire going to the windows. That way it charges while the car is on, then slowly drains after the car is off. I don't know all the farad counts, but I would measure how long it takes to roll up the windows then ask someone at Radio Shack how many uF you need... Is uF right?... Or you could just find an always live contsant wire(like dome light) and wire it off that off the fuse box. Then they would ALWAYS have power. I think I might try this some day I'm not so lazy... Good idea!

I do that sometimes. I'm just lazy. I think since I'm going to get Smart Windows, I don't need to do this mod. But I'm still interested in it.

Okay, I know this thread is older than my car, but if you haven't found out how to do this mod yet, what about the little green light that's near the ignition key? That stays on for a decent amount of time and shuts off, so finding a way to wire what you want to stay on with the light shouldn't be too difficult, but it's always easier said than done :)

this link to the how-to section keeps the windows on
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36875

did this awhile back and love it.

I already knew about the windows, I was referring to the accessories. Like I know in my cousins old cavalier, the radio would stay on after you shut off the car and took the key out until you opened the door.

But the windows roll up slower without the car running. Why not just start rolling them up as you approach the parking spot or just leave it running until they're up? What does it take, like 20 seconds to roll them all up. This just seems like doing something to your car out of sheer boredom & no money just for the sake of "modding". IMO this gets the most insignificant mod on the forum ever award but hopefully it will make some people's lives a little less aggravating & painful somehow. Mod on!

I installed the compustar alarm when I purchased the car with auto start. Recently before summer I had the window modules installed so I can roll up/down the windows away from the car anytime. You can buy these modules online, if you have an aftermarket alarm with key chain you can wire the windows as an acsessory button.
