Need Opinions: Fuel Mangement

Proof is in the pudding. And guess what: 300 WHP, quarter time 12.9 and a trap speed of 115 MPH with 7 degrees of timing pulled on pump gas.

Has anyone beat that?

Until someone does, the MPI wins hands down in my book. Forget the fact that I have got 4 MPI powered Mazdaspeeds runing.

It's all part of a learning curve. I am sure noone learned how to use a computer in a week. Right ?
Is that a built motor?

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the performance doesn't come from the computer, it comes from the programming. They all do the same thing: alter timing and fuel delivery. Beyond that, the only differences are installation and ease of use. I'm sure there are slight differences in map resolution, but it's not going to make a huge difference.

I have a quick question, though. Are there any setups out there that take extra sensors into account for on-the-fly learning? I'm talking about atmospheric pressure (barometer), air temp, humidity, etc.

I still need to know whats wrong with my car? It runs really rough at IDLE. You see the RPMs jump from 700rpm to almost stalling out--back and forth for a little bit and then you see the rpms shoot upto 2,000rpm all of a sudden (prolly the ECU sending alot of fuel to the engine). When it is Idling rough, I would try to take off and I press on the gas and the car doesn't really go and then all of a sudden it goes. My guess is the engine is still trying to learn my setup after replacing the block.

sounds like a vacuum leak to me. I put in a thermal spacer on my intake manifold, and had problems like that with mine shortly after. Turns out the spacer kinda settles in after a bit, and the bolts had to be retightened. Try checking your hoses, and gasket seals on the IM ad TB.

Actually, it kinda sounds like a thermostat issue. It will jump to 2k at idle if the ECU thinks that it's a cold start on a chilly day. Check any wires going to it. You might have a bad/loose wire, or your thermostat could be going.

Yeah I forgot to mention that my heater doesn't work either

i have my haltech e6x with haltech electronic boost controller, 3 bar map sensor, protege specific wiring harness and wrx 440cc injectors up for sale as well for 1150 total.

That is a good deal and it is proven to work. Not to mention, it is already tuned for 18 psi.

I forgot to mention before.... Unichip is working on a Palm version of their software. So the user will be able to make changes with the appropriate equipment.

By the way, I am carrying the Unichip units now for the Protege if anyone is interested. They should be listed shortly. *Moderators, I don't mean to advertise here, I'm still waiting to hear back on sponsoring the board. I will as soon as I get the info back from the admins.

Well if your thermostat was somehow stuck in the open position, your coolant temps would constantly be lower than they should be. Since heater runs off of coolant temps, that would explain it. What is your temp gauge at? Mine is always steady at just half a notch below center.

yeah its in the same spot as yours
