I need some help finding a fuel mangement source. I plan on getting a GT28RS or maybe a GT3071RS turbo upgrade. I just got my car back two days ago and I don't want to blow it again. I have been looking at the greddy e-manage, haltech, and unichip. Please give me some of your opinions and experiences about the different fuel mangement sources.

Most used on this forum is the MPI Tuner. Complete control of timing, stock injectors and extra injectors.

Whats up nick, i live in NJ also and i was wondering if i wanted to get the mpituner installed by your facility and tuned to my vehicle is this possible and what would be the approx. cost, thanx for your time jeremy... I would be very interested on getting this done do to the fact i have a fmic and cai installed and turbo-back on the way.........thanx jeremy (ugh)

Haltech hands down.

It's easier to install, easier to tune and there aren't 35+ "haltech problem" threads. Sure the MPI is cheap, but you get what you pay for. I would just spend a little extyra and do it right the first time.

The haltech is not much easier to install. The mpi took me about 2 hours to install. I have heard the haltech is much more involved.

Yeah, anything plug and play is going to be easier to install than a Haltec (or any universial EMS).

I don't know much about the MPI unit myself, I've been running Unichip for about 8 months or so. I like it a lot. There was nothing else out at the time when we did the Unichip.

The haltech is VERY easy to install. You have 8 wires and 2 sensors that are all pre-terminated.

4 injector wires
1 crank trigger
1 tps
1 12V power
1 ground

then you install the map and tap a hole for the IAT and CT and thats it.

Not complex at all. Even if you think that is harder then NO'ONE can deny that the haltech software isn't easier to tune properly.

either way this thread is doomed from the begining....flame war here we come.

Do you need a laptop for this?

I am going with the e-Manage after Christmas. All that is need to my knowledge for this setup is a voltage clamp on the first O2 sensor. And there is no laptop needed, if you have the GReddy Profec e-01 BC. Everything can be done through the e-01.

a voltage clamp is simple. you have one wire that goes to the harness end of wire 60, one wire that goes to the ecu end of wire 60, one wire (power) that goes to i think pin 77 on the ecu, and one wire that goes to (i think) pin 97 on the ecu. then you have a vacuum line that runs from your engine bay to the voltage clamp...or t off your boost gauge to your voltage clamp.

mpi is 750, get what you pay for

haltech is 1000, never heard a complaint

emange is cheaper, but i dont know enough about it to comment.

Yea but then again not that many people are running the haltech on the board thats why there havent been any problems addressed.

Haltech is a very proven platform on numerous vehicles. This is FACT not opinion.

It should also be noted that the Haltech comes pre-mapped and only needs minor adjustments for altitude and fuel grade to run flawlessly. Ask people who have actually used both systems like Captain KRM, Aric15, Dexter,myself,matthew,Yp5toronto, etc...

the reason you think there arent many people with the haltech on this board is

BECAUSE THEY NEVER (OR RARELY) HAVE ******* PROBLEMS.

the reason people think or know there are so many people with MPIs is because they are ALWAYS having problems! you dont need me, matty, or nick to give our opinions you can search for problems with the haltech and problems with the mpi and see who has what.

myself personally, i have never used or installed the haltech. however, i have been in several cars with haltechs, and no problems. i never hear a haltech owner saying they are having constant problems.

the mpi is good if you want a cheap solution that does everything (unlike the emanage)...you just need to be good at tuning, have a lot of paitence for parts to arrive if something goes wrong, have the right setupi on your laptop etc.

me, i wish i would have waited for the haltech instead of spendnig the money on the mpi.
