Need info from you guys about the CX-7

If you're leasing for business reasons the CX-7 will be hard to beat... same reason I went with it.

Yeah that's what it looks like. Thanks. I still have about 2 months before I change my Mazda 3. And of course Mazda will want to keep me as I'm already a customer.

Don't know. Right now, I could've gotten an Outlook for the same price I'm paying for the CX-7. Of course, this occured right after I signed the paperwork. Don't get me wrong, I like the CX-7 but if the Outlook, or even the SAAB 9-7x were in my price range at the time, I would have jumped on one of them. The CX-7 is smaller and doesn't tow.

Of course the trade-offs are the seemingly better accelleration, drivability around town, and somewhat good cornering. The CX-7 by far the sportiest of them all. Still, to have towing capability would trump all of that, for me.

Unless you put your foot to the floor every single time you move off of a stop sign or light, you'll never notice the lag. In normal everyday driving it is a complete non-issue for me...and I have a heavy foot. Don't let that scare you away from the CX-7. It is a very nice vehicle for the family.

(yes)

I've had my CX for a year now and have about 22k mi on it and it's been great. Never had a CEL but have had almost all of the TSB's performed as I had an early build date of 06/07. As stated before lag is only from a dead stop and lag is really the wrong term for it since it's really the boost threshold. You can't expect to be in boost at 1000rpm. I know a lot of people complain about mileage but I can't complain with what I've been pulling out of it. On the 4k mi road trip my wife and I just took, we managed to pull 29mpg out of it on one tank with the cruise set at 80mph and 4 people in the car. Other tanks on the trip ranged from as low as 22mpg going over the Rocky Mountains to the average of 26-28mpg.

Would I buy it again, hell yes! But I'd get an AWD version.

Yep, the leased closed the deal for me too..I buried some negative equity from a Ford into it for 24 mos and then I'll see what I want to do at lease end (and I'm back whole again).

Mine is an 07 model and there is some turbo-lag to be sure. It's slight, but still annoying from a dead stop. Hate the stock rubber and the Mazda nav leaves much to be desired..

That said, the cx-7 seems to be a decent quality ride that's relatively fun to drive at a good value price..Can't B*tch about that (2thumbs)

It's been almost 4 years now that I have my Mazda 3 and I'll be changing it soon. I love the Mazda 3.

Before being booed by my CX-7 fellahs for browsing in the (wrong) (angel): I'm not trying to compare CX-7 to Mazda5, but if you love the Mazda3 and family is a buying factor it may be worth to also check out the Mazda5. No AWD nor DISI Turbo plus a sliding door but the 5 is based on the 3, drives great (I got a 5MT) plus covers all my family needs (space, versatility, fuel economy, no big loan, ... and wife loves the fact that it is IKEA box size compliant plus the car looks good). On top, the 08 model has now many improvements/enhancements which may be worth looking at (since 07 there is even leather and HIDs options).

OK, now I can be booed :D (stooges)

Nah. Actually the Mazda 5 is a nice little vehicle but I need more power to satisfy my right foot and AWD is a must for me because of all the winter driving and bad roads I encounter during that time of year. Actually that's the only thing I hated with my 3. While I had a limited slip in my previous car, the Mazda 3 has none and the first winter I started cursing when I got stuck in the country with 4 winter tires after a snow storm. My sister was laughing with her impreza with 4 all season tires while she went up no problem so I have learned my lesson. Although more than ok in most situation with 4 winter tires, a limited slip is nice and AWD is a lot better. No more "one wheel drive" for me :D

Gotcha. Yeah, I dunno why only the Japanese models have AWD. The Mazda5 with AWD could be a good seller in many areas in North America (US, Canada).

With regards to power, never driven a turbo one (yet!) :D so I cannot comment. Wife is the primary driver so the 5MT is more than enough for her.

Well, keep on Zoom-Zooming, whatever the model will be (wrc)

I checked out the 5 but I didn't like it. Many things just felt sub-par to me. But ultimately, I was leaving the decision up to the SO. After driving both back to back, she agreed with my assement (although I did not tell her before hand and was letting her try to describe the differences). YMMV

Ok....In two months it will be a year old.....I have over 14,000 miles on it and have not had it in for anything really...just oil change. Small complaint with stereo system going out for a few seconds every so often and dirt around doors. Other than that zip. Engine light came on once but I did not have gas cap screwed on and drove it two days and light came off. If you don't know that's the main reason it triggers and it goes off after you drive so many miles. LOVE this car. Fun to mod too! Very little lag if any...I don't even notice. A good choice for sure!
