Need help with PS2 install

I am currently installing a PS2 into my P5. I have installed the inverter already. I have a problem with the picture and sound quality though. When using the PS2 through a normal house power point the picture and sound is perfect, but once I switch the PS2 over to the inverter lines start to appear on the screen and the sound gets slightly crackly. Therefore the problem is with the power supply and not the A/V connections.

Someone suggested to open the PS2 and connect a cable to the chassis of the PS2 and then ground it to the chassis of the car. He said that it fixed his problems. But someone else then came out and said not to do this because grounding a 240V(Australian power supply) appliance to the chassis of a car is not a good idea.

What does everyone think, any other ideas.

Thanks.

mine worked fine in my p5 with just the inverter, not sure about opening up the ps to ground it to the car(probably a bad idea) maybe you can try a different power inverter...that might be the problem

well, that should be enough to power just a ps2...so next comes: where is the inverter installed?

It's installed on the vertical face of the rear passenger side seat. There isn't any other cables near it.

It's hard wired to the battery. I have also grounded the (-) of the input and output to the chassis of the car.

I've seen this problem before and to remedy it I've grounded the outer shields of the audio/video rca's. That may work.

I don't think it's a problem with the rca's. I connected the PS2 up to the system and then ran the power from both a house power point and the inverter. I didn't have any problems with the house power point, but when i used the inverter was when these problems started.

was there paint on the ground location, it needs to be bare metal...if thats not the problem, then im stumped.

No, i used a grinder to get rid of the paint. Could it be that the PS2 has to be grounded to the car as well?

Just trust me on grounding the shields. all you have to do is wrap a wire around the outside part of the rca (not the inner pin) and touch it to ground and then see if your lines are gone. PS2 is not intended for 12v applications and therefore does not have the proper rcas for this purpose. just ground it really quick it dosen't take that long and if it dosen't work you can say told you so.(mj)

JellyBean98 is right on this one, I'd like to point out that grounding just the Video RCA should resolve the problem.
