Need help with intakes and other mods

Hey guys, im new here i got my mazdaspeed6 last february and im finally saving up enough money to put in a couple mods. I have been looking around and so far for an intake i've found an AEM cold air intake for the speed6 for 260$ at ***************. Anyone got a better suggestion, also id really appreciate some help on a full 3" cat-back exhaust system, i cant find one anywhere. Thanks

dude dont buy a catback exhaust you wont make s*** for power, if you buy an exhaust buy a full 3" turboback, your car will just be slow and annoying with a catback

Thanks, but how much?

Thanks for the advice, but arent the turbo backs upwards of 1100? i saw the 3" cat-back for 600, do you think its worth the money?

I've seen gains for the 3" downpipe and the 3" catback of approx. 15hp each. Why wouldn't you just do catback if you have the just for that money.....less restriction is what the turbo needs.

I know protegegarage has a new top mounted intercooler also, that you might want to check into.

I put a Mazdaspeed CAI (basically the same as AEM) and am very happy with it.

you would gain more power if you replaced the restrictive downpipe man, 3" cat-back is going to do nothing for you. yeah they are expensive, but you could make it cheaper by doing a 3" downpipe and then having a muffler shop make you a custom catback. In my opinion, you should get the CPE 3" Downpipe instead of the catback, you'll be pimpin' man with more power. Check out **********'s results and price on it its about the same as the catback. Give Cullen a call at **********, he'll tell you whats up for sure, tell him i sent you.

edit: i'm pretty sure that you can have the downpipe with your stock catback but you'll have to confirm that with Cullen

I have a Greddy BOV and Mazdaspeed intake so far, no CEL to date (headbang) . Love 'em.
For additional power I suggest down pipe then exhaust first. CP-E has some quality stuff, CP-E.com.
For some consistency after that check out the FMIC and/or improved TMIC from Auto EXE, ProtegeGarage, CP-E......

Must lower this beast soon as well. Missed a group buy from Corksport on the Autio EXE springs, crap.

i think that if you were to choose between getting the downpipe or the catback, then to get the downpipe. You can get the catback at a later date if you choose to and you can get one custom made if you want.

Maestro-
So u mean 3" dwn pipe then 3" catback, from magnaflow?

Just my two cents, but yes. looking at theinfo I have seen from a few other companies, here and the 6 forums. I think the biggest HP gain for the $ will be a down pipe. It's definitely on my shopping list.

And one mor thing, am i crazy or does the CP-E 3" cat-back exhaust system only have one pipe, it says its for the MS6, why isnt it dual exhaust?

The dual exhaust thing is not all that it is cracked up to be. CP.E gets much better flow with the single pipe then magnaflow gets with its dual design.

Has anyone install the mazda cold air intake? If so how does it compare to the other aftermarket intakes (i.e. AEM)? I know the mazda one won't void your warranty (depending on the dealer)

From what i have heard the CP-E cold air intake is the best, but i think it might void your warrenty, but its better than the one offered by mazda.
