Need help with CEL

My CEL is on I believe its P0421 which i was told is my cat. I think its the one right off my manifold cause i replaced the other one last year and i had someone tell me that those will almost never go out. I had a random multiple cylinder misfire when i bought the car and he said i could have shot a hole through the first cat. From the dealer it is $810 and i cant afford that. Is there any way to get around it? I thought i read something about grounding out the o2 censor, would that work? I just fail emissions automatically if the light is on. Any help would be highly appreciated thanks

Gut the cat and install a mil eliminator (put a resistor in line with the O2 sensor wires) to remove the cel. Will pass OBD2 emissions just fine.
