Hello everyone, I am new, not only to the forum but to doing any mods also in general. I recently got a mazda 6i(2007) and put a cold air intake in it. Or i guess just the filter. I took the whole box out and put the cone filter in place. It started running fine until maybe close to an hour later the engine light came on. The next morning, the car i guess stalled on me when i started it or just wouldnt start, so i turned it off and turned it back on giving it a little gas and then i was able to drive it. I am a little worried and not sure what to do or what can be wrong. Im also noticing its taking a lot more higher rpms to reach speed. I normally drobe between 2-3,000 now im finding myself between 3&4,000 just to reach speed. Is this normal.
the car is a 4cyl. btw. Thanks.

wait... you took the stock airbox off... and stuck a filter on your accordian pipe?

you probably didnt plug you vaccum tube. put up picks, and ill be able to help you better.

I think you should put the stock air box back on and just get a complete intake kit, because its not really worth it to just put a filter on the stock pipe.(chair)

here is the picture of it. I got my cel looked at and it turns out it was something with the 02 sensor and it being stuck lean. one of the guys have told me to definatly remove it because it can cause the engine to blow so the filter is off and the stock is back on and i am back to where i started. I was also told to wait until a full cai was available for the car and to just put that on but im not sure if its worth it with the cost, and having to take it on and off (warranty), and then being worried about water. i am not 100% sure on what i should do. as of now i am back to the way it came and id like to add some performance parts to it. If i have to, i guess later on ill throw a full cai onto it. Thanks.
