2003 Mazdaspeed Protege Mica #717
So last night I get my 2003 MSP towed because it is making a god awful sound. To me it sounded as though something was wrong with the exhaust, and there was. I get a call from Mazda this morning saying my downpipe is craked in half and that my turbo is messed up. They say that it is my fault by dropping the clutch in 1st gear yet they are still going to fix it under the warranty. I want to know if anyone else has had any problems similiar or no what is going on. I know how to drive a manual transmission, I get every scheduled check up and change the oil every 2500mi. What is curious to me is that they say it is a problem due to abuse or misuse while driving yet they are fixing it for me. I just want everyones opinion on this. I have had my car at the service drive many times more than I should have by now. I've had to get my rotors replaced/machined, the master cylinder on my clutch replaced and now this. As well as many other little things like AC controls stop working or AC cuts out. Thanks for the feedback.

I still love my MSP...

If they are fixing it under warranty, who cares what they said?

i care because it seems as though every other month im in there getting something fixed. i bought a new car because i didnt want to continually have problems. and in the off chance i did it would be fixed. and no i do not abuse my car. they just said that. i like to have fun and throw it into corners every now and then or go through the hills but i never over rev or drop the clutch.

Mazda goodwills stuff you wouldn't even believe. It all depends on the situation.

My downpipe cracked and my turbo had an oil leak. I believe the cracked exhaust section has been discussed on the forum before. I'm positive I'm not the only person to have the t25 leak some blood. As I recall my oil feed line may have been installed incorrectly (but it has been a long time since it was fixed).

I would do a search on the AC. I know of another member that had there AC behave the same way yours has and had it resolved.
