Sorry to be so insistent but my husband and I were going to install the DaveB gauge rings I won at the MJM @ GMU tonight. He wants to install them tonight, ugh, in a field, ugggghhh, at a drag race up at 75/80, argh, while we all drink, grrrrr! Sounds crazy, I know, but we were supposed to do the install tonight and now he wants to go to the drag race too, so, marital compromise, he says - let's install them there! My question is: Should I do this in a field? And, if so, can I install them without taking the whole gauge cluster out? I only have Lisakay's install pics to go off of because I don't have access to the instruction CD and haven't been able to check it out yet. I mean, they just pop on don't they? HELP please! Thanks! :D

yes, they just pop on, but first...two pieces of the cluster pop off...it would be fine to install them in a field, just be careful.

get some double sided tape and use lil pieces aroudn each ring to ensure they stay.. in my car they stayed fine until it became the bass moster.. then i needed the tape.. also.. DO NOT USE SUPERGLUE.. it will discolor the plastic screen over the gauges -=)

No worries there... on the bass I mean... I've only got stock speakers and will for a while! :D I'll get some just in case though.

So basically, once I gain access to the gauge face, I can just pop sticky them on and then that's it? Thanks so much for your help! :D

I don't think I'd do it drunk because from what I hear, it is VERY expensive if you brake a needle of something.. It was a pretty easy install for me.. at first I didn't put any glue on them and stayed put for a LONG time.. but then with the combination of the heat and me bragging about them not falling off on the forum, the top of the middle one came off.. so I went in with some clear silicone. I only used a little bit around ONLY the middle one and then waited overnight for it to dry (because I didn't want what happened to Funnylittleman to happen to me.. :)). They haven't moved since..
maybe a dumb question.. but why does everyone say not to glue 'em?

:wtf: definately sober up (drinks) before you go ******* with your car...for gods sake what posseses people to post on a forum when they are drunk? (scratch) i feel sorry for your husband...normally if my wife gets drunk she gets horny (bj), you rush to the mazda club boards.

clownphish, one question you ask and no one directly answered.....

YES you DO have to completely remove the guage cluster from the dash.....that is how you get to the plastic cover and remove it that covers the guages themselves.....I think I would wait till you were home, sober and in the drive way to do the install.
